I’ve played DK in both retail and WotLK. I have to say, I really like the old rune system (2 blood, 2 frost, 2 unholy). It is just so unique and adds another layer of strategy to the class. I wonder how hard it would be to reimplement this into retail?
Not hard. But very unlikely gonna happen.
Honestly same, it’s carrying wotlk for me so far
I rather like how they recharge as you use them. Much faster than this 3/3 system we are on
Now if we could go back to that and runic emp refreshes all runes on cd it would be a better time for us
no thanks, it’s overly complicated for no reason.
Yes but the downside to that is that you must absolutely spend that rune the nanosecond it comes off cooldown or you’ve forever lost that damage.
Well there’s downside to everything
get into the action quicker with runes recharging as you use them with runic emp refreshing all runes on cd and loose a little deeps
or
auto attack for 14 sec cuz the 3/3 system and runic emp only refeshes 1 rune at a time
I also much prefer the old system. It feels much more satisfying to play with both thematically and mechanically, which is odd given how much time has passed since wotlk.
I strongly dislike wounds and the pseudo combo point playstyle it brings, whereas using runes properly in wrath is actually fun to me and makes for a more engaging playstyle
The old rune system is so good.
Its really simple unless you are messing up your rotation massively.
It feels fine solo, but when you’re trying to do competitive dps while not being hit or expertise capped have fun trying to spend those runes while your dps keeps going down and down.
Just a reminder, yell at your tank if they are being a madman and running and jumping everywhere when they are tanking. There is nothing more annoying than a tank that wont just gather the mobs and hunker down so the dps can attack from behind to remove parry chance from the equation if they are melee.
At the moment it seems like mobs are way overcompensating for player movement, even taking a little step can cause the mobs to completely run behind me, then i have to do a little wiggle dance to get them all im front of me again. At least on classic servers.
It may not be entirely the tank’s fault.
Said no one ever! If you’re a tank, it’s your fault. Even if it isn’t your fault.
So if we did go back to the old rune system
Death Runes free use of abilities or extra damage per rune spent?
Like if obliteration turned oblit back into a execute nuke and a talent turnes death Runes in a can use oblit at any health level
I quite enjoy the old rune system for the casual content what I’m doing in classic. But it would be so annoying keeping track of 3types of runes while doing current mythic raids. Might sink more into muscle memory if I play it longer though.
I remember it happening back when Wrath was retail.
But im specifically talking about the people running and jumping around because they cant sit still and plant themselves somewhere.
Im not noticing the mob issue much anymore though it may be mob specific.
Leveling a DK in Classic reminded me how glad I am that I don’t have to dump runes with BS abilities every other cycle anymore.
Old rune system but its just frost Runes and Death Runes are 15% per rune spent for extra damage.
Also how would we get them via using abilities
Or
When runic emp refreshes Runes theres a 50% chance they become Death Runes
Or if runic emp proc/corruption then it’s granteed Runes become Death Runes and the only rng is runic
Really wish they would’ve kept alternative runic spenders like old Unholy Blight (in the current Wrath). Would’ve been cool if they kept the current rune system in Cata too and decided to spice things up with the new abilities, like maybe making Necrotic Strike cost an Unholy and Blood rune.
Could’ve done so much more with this rune system. Unfortunate that they scrapped it in Cata for a more “streamlined” iteration.
Thats not an alternative runic power spender, its the same rp spender, Death Coil. It just makes Death coil do more damage in the form of a dot that prevents diseases from being cleansed.
