Old quests that were removed/changed in Cata, that you cannot wait to revist

Helcular’s Revenge is one quest that comes to mind. :triumph:

I can’t wait to help Mankrik find his wife.

I am pretty good at finding things and I am sure things will have a happy ending.

Class quests! And the Barrens. What about the Green Hills of Stranglethorn? All those pages…

Dartol’s Rod of Transformation!

The one that’s started by the item on the Dwarven corpse under the water beneath the bridge between Wetlands and Arathi which starts a long chain including visiting his widow (still in IF today, Sully Balloo or something), Magni and gathering mats for a statue.

Also the timed quest to get the drink from the dwarf, on the isolated part of the same bridge, to the inn in Southshore.

The Dungeon Tier 0.5 quest chain. That was the most fun I’ve had in a game pretty much ever. The reward wasnt incredible, but it felt so awesome finally getting my full Feralheart set.

I much prefer vanilla’s open questing system to cata’s handholding, so basically all of them. But especially the Scythe of Elune and the class quests.

All the above plus the one for Linken’s Boomerang

Shaman Water Totem quest chain.
Chain to get the key to Scholo.
Quest to get Tooga back to his wife in Tanaris.
Chain to summon the avatar of Hakkar in Sunken Temple (and get the scroll to resummon him).

Really - I am looking forward to all of the removed quests.

I know which questline I’m NOT looking forward to.

In Defense of the King’s Lands.

In Defense of the ****ing King’s ****ing Lands.

I grew to hate troggs when doing that questline in 2004, and my hate has not diminished in the intervening years.

The rest of loch modon is great though.

God that was such a charming quest. While leveling I’ve been doing mostly “serious” quests or even grimdark ones. Then I happened across a talking turtle that wants to visit his wife. This turtle, to my knowledge, wasn’t a demon disguised as a turtle that’s trying to trick you. He’s just a talking turtle, that wants you to escort him across the desert to see his wife. His wife is not torn to pieces when you arrive, just waiting for her husband. Her talking turtle husband.

It was so absurd, yet wholesome. I loved it.

Edit: I just realized that Tooga’s Quest actually gives you one of the best pre-raid rings for bear tanks. God I love this game.

Test of Skulls
The Star, the Hand, and the Heart
Green Hills of Stranglethorn
Tier 0.5
Real dungeon quests, not this watered down crap where a group of hapless losers are just hanging out right inside the instances begging for help (so… “Video game-y”)
Class quests

It was also one of the best escort quests ever. There was no preset route so Tooga would just follow you along whatever path you took. You could avoid a lot of mobs by going around them and while the quest did have a timer (I think?), it was generous enough that it wasn’t a race to beat it.

Worst escort quest - that professor in Darkshore at the excavation. He wouldn’t stop if you got into combat (only if he got attacked) and his health was so low that if two casters hit him, he would just die. The only way to do it was to clear the entire camp before starting the escort quest and hope that no one else came over and started it while you were clearing because he usually would die and then everything would respawn and you’d just get frustrated and skip the entire thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Another sucky escort quest was that elf in Northwatch Hold in the Barrens who wanted to be escorted through the entire keep area as well as the entire pirate area south of Ratchet. The escort itself wasn’t horrible but the guy was tagged as hostile to Alliance so sometime high level Alliance would hang around and kill the guy right as you were getting near the end and then laugh at you.
