I re-enabled my account to get ready for classic launch. Was huge into vanilla and TBC. Life/game direction has kept me away from the game for some time. For fun I wanted to play one of my old twinks. Personally, I always enjoyed 10/15vs10/15 twink battles more than any max level content.
I waited an ungodly amount of time for a battle at 20-29. As I was waiting in the keep, I noticed other 29’s in this crazy light blue colored gear and epics. All of it seemed better than my gear, even though I used to be a perfect twink. Also, they seemed to be queuing right away.
Two questions…
How are people getting this gear. Even for twinking it seemed overpowered. I kind of wonder how any amount of non-twinks could be able to kill them.
the light blue gear is called heirlooms and you buy them from certain vendors in stormwind or orgrimmar for gold
the stats on these pieces of gear will increase as your level doesand is tuned to generally be the best pieces of gear that you can put on
the gearing process for twinks has changed dramatically if you haven’t played since heirlooms weren’t a thing, for instance certain pieces of gear which had better stats on them but were a lower armor class are no longer best in slot because every class has a passive which grants 5% more main stat if they are using all of the armor type that the class is intended to use
as for the epics I’m not quite sure where they came from and the queues I’m not sure either
Xp off queues have been separated from the general population hence the high wait times for you . There is some exploit which can be used to get into the general BG’s by twinks but I don’t know much about it .
The light blue gear is heirlooms as other have said . It’s mainly used because of the experience boosts it gives for leveling . Typically twinks don’t use looms as they are not the BiS though some pieces maybe are . Best gear is got from dungeons which are what the twinks are typically wearing .
Depends on what bracket. 19-89 or whatever is dungeon gear scaled to your lvl with the enchants, engineering items, etc.
110 is farming mythic antorus gear. doing the BFA storyline with your XP turned off, getting the 300 azerite pieces and heart of azeroth farming up to 350+ ilvl.
119 is farming timewalking dungeons, 300 azerite gear and the heart of azeroth farming.
110+ twinking is the LEAST expensive, 110 and below is SUPER expensive. my 59 twinks all have about 20k+ invested into them and they arent even all BiS.
Well keep in mind that lower level bg’s classes and talents are always going to be imbalanced as it is. That’s without taking gear/twinks into consideration. Like a marks hunter might seem like a twink but he’s not geared. Twink him and it’s double win.
There’s currently an exploit that will be (allegedly) fixed tomorrow.
Players who manually group with a player that has turned off experience gains will now receive 95% less experience.
Developers’ note: This change does not impact players who find themselves automatically grouped by matchmaking for activities like Group Finder dungeons or Island Expeditions.
They have reworded this. It used to say “those grouped with xp off players will receive 95% less xp”
I believe it didn’t specify pvp or pve either so people were thinking this was going to be the fix, like levelers would not gain xp so would kick twinks or something.
Someone quoted a blue post somewhere that was worded interestingly. I don’t really care about twinks so I didn’t commit it to memory, nor do I recall where I saw it. It was in the past few days on the BG forums somewhere. It’s kind of hard to find info when people are making new twink threads multiple times daily instead of consolidating them.
“Well, to be fair, not one that you are aware of. I can’t speak to any actions that we may or may not have taken on those who may have used an exploit. What I can say is that in some situations, to echo what Leviathan mentioned, on issues that we may not have a fix, we’ll generally hold off on penalty until we do have a fix ready. I can’t say that will happen in the case you are referring to, but there may be a rude awakening at some point.”
That was a blue post but the thread is locked so i couldn’t quote it correctly
One of the downfalls of this forum. Used to be posts were account wide. Now, people make new toons complaining about twinks making it seem like some widespread problem.
It’s both sides. There’s like 6 twink posters acting like their extremely niche playstyle is more popular than it is (while simultaneously insulting anyone who doesn’t agree with their playstyle).
Which part? Because the insulting anybody who doesn’t agree has been happening here for a very long time and we have gotten conflicting stories about popularity. Only once have I seen Blizzard comment and state that they consider it a “niche form of gameplay” (though that was a decade ago).
Same general comments “lazy levelers” or “entitlement” or “whiners” - ways to entice arguments.
And it’s not very popular. If it was there’d be queues. It was a lot more popular years ago - I had a 70 in cata for a brief time and queues popped, plus arenas.
It’s a niche playstyle that doesn’t coordinate with blizzards desire for people to level characters (see: heritage armor, zone scaling, etc).
Talking about making new threads. That was multiple toons making anti twink threads. And yes I am one who calls some levelers lazy. It doesn’t take much to not have white gear or empty slots on your toon.
