I know that in 10.2.5 they are enabling dragonriding in the old world, but I haven’t heard if some of our old mounts will get dynamic flight at the same time or if that change is coming with the new expansion.
Any ideas? Just curious.

Yes but NOT all. They said some logistic issues prevent certain mounts from getting DR. The 2 confirmed to be getting DR is Invincible and ashes of alar.
and that is when the new expansion is out
10.2.5 is just the dragon riding mounts atm
If I can’t DR on my Sinrunner Blanchy, I’ll be devastated!
Horrible idea. Who Honestly wants to use Ashes of Alar with Vigor. or Invincible. I surely don’t I don’t even like Dynamic Flight AKA Dragon Riding. It is the most useless form of flying they could have ever done. For starters Vigor. Why did we need a basic power bar/energy like currency for a Mount. the abilities attached fine but Vigor.? Why was this not Flying 2.0 as in Free form flying like we have always had just with a full talent tree to buff our new mounts with added speed etc. Then we get to the abilites that the vigor is used for. these could have just been action buttons with pre determined cooldowns and functioned the exact same way.
If this was how it was setup I would bet my literal life that it would have made for a much better expansion and experience. Now that I have unlocked basic flying mounts in 10.2 I have not enjoyed the as much as I have prior. If they don’t literally 100% overhaul Dynamic flight for The War Within People are still going to hate it. Granted we unlock normal flying mounts once we hit the next level cap which I think is level 80 but from 70> 80 we gotta slog through this crappy system and honestly I don’t see that as a fair trade off. Both options should have been a thing from day one if they did not go with my method of Dragon Riding. Oh well I hope they learn from there failures of this current expansion ( And yes I said that right why else would a master craftsmand like Chris Metzen be brought back into more or less the same roll as Ion Hazzikostas if the game was doing well and not only here to add voice lines to thrall.) Would love to see people’s idea of what I suggested and read from those who think dragon riding was anything but bad.
i will be using them lol
Lots of people. I think I’m not alone being tired of riding a dragon.
its kinda silly.
Those who can manage vigor well enough dont really even notice its there.
Those who cant manage it just have it as one more stumbling block keeping them from DRing…from wanting to.
I spent almost a day or more /played during Dragonflight. And yet this level of skill eludes me for the most part. Going up Azurespan is by far the hardest area when it comes to vigor management It seems as if gravity is against you in the game and just makes it that much harder to ascend from the elite gnoll area or lower all the way to the world boss. Other areas are sort of similar but not as tedious. Going down off a super high or high enough vantage point I have 0 qualms with since it is obviously e way smoother and easier to get around.
But the overall controls are what annoy me besides the vigor. Really poor turning radius is a big issue mainly in races and clipping the tinies bit of a tree branch or the point of a rock or a mound part of a rock instantly stops you dead. I could list off more issues with this current system but I think most of you have heard them all. As I stated they honestly need to upgrade or totally overhaul most of this system if they intend to shove it down our throats going forward which I think is a bad idea. What I suggested as an alternative method of creating Dragon Riding would be more functional and have more longevity in the long run. Oh well have to sit back and wait and see what unfolds.
10.2.5 is just dragonriding in old flying zones, with just the current crop of dragonriding mounts. Dynamic flight is not until TWW.
Most people love dragonriding. It’s been overwhelmingly well received.
I have nonestly not seen it. Mainly seen people just use it due to it being basically the Norm now. Have had plenty of in game discussions with mixed results. And honestly positive or not the systemis far from polished. As I stated many a time if they keep this Dynamic Flying going forward and don’t change it I doubt the positivety will linger for long.
I want my Archmage’s Disc to have dynamic flight.
I think it would be silly to watch lol
Yes! That’s what I was thinking
I do wonder how they plan to make the Lorewalker Disc work with this (since Ion said they eventually wanna make ALL mounts able to do the dynamic flying.)
This must be such a massive project. I’m pretty sure all the models need a complete overhaul… because they certainly were not designed to fly like the current dragonriding models
The fact that it’s “basically the norm now” is kind of an indicator of how it was received. If people were so vehemently opposed to it, you’d see a majority of people jump back to airswimming now that they can.
The majority seems fine with it.
I fully sympathize with everyone having trouble with it.
The game has settings for different handicaps, including color blindness if memory serves. So they acknowledge and try to make concession for lesser abled players.
Dragonriding requires motor skills where old flight was pressing a button to mount and pressing another button to get off the ground and aiming yourself in a direction.
It was obvious some players WERE going to have problems with it, even if not a large % of them.
Im ok with the game advancing. I love DRing myself. What disgusts me is the mocking, petulant, childish behavior of some on this forum attacking and demeaning fellow gamers who are having trouble with it.
Hear, hear!
I also enjoy the new system. But I also get why it can be a real issue for some of my friends – arthritis in the hands, vertigo, many other things can render DR unusable. I want old-style flying available for them, so they can enjoy the game, too.
