Old Models VS New Models

Just saw a picture of the old models for the first time in awhile and i noticed you can’t turn off the new models anymore. I really miss the old models, what about you guys?

I love the new models and I have absolutely no desire to go back.

When my human female paladin looked goofy, I had no choice, she needed to be a Draenei. The old female face was fine, the new one I couldn’t find one that didn’t look clownish; something in the brow and the eyes didn’t look right.

Soon, my lupine friends, soon.

But yeh, I’m very happy with the new models. Adds a whole new level of expression to the game. The old models are just… really hard to look at. It’s still shocking to think we went through all of beautiful Pandaria with those models.

the old goblin models had a more greedy / gold hungry look too them, kinda miss those.

scroll through the pictures, not the one that shows.

I got u, fam.

To be honest, I think I prefer Old Gazlowe…

yeah that looks better, it should just be updated graphic wise

I prefer the old goblin models.

Still find it unsettling when I hear a goblin using the high pitched voice lines with the cata models.

I really liked how my old female human looked like.
Yea, the new model’s chest looks smooth and better, but to me whether I like her face or not is more important.

Did not like the new model face at all, so I ended up race changing her to a Void Elf.

I don’t miss them. I do wish there were more options for the new models; I preferred the feel of the old human female model since the new faces seem too…smiley? Night Elves have sort of the same issue, where a good looking serious face leaves you with maybe one option.

I’d rather have more customization options for the new than any reversion to the old stuff any day.

I was never the biggest fan of the old models, aside from a few faces.

They weren’t bad, but neither were they “good”. Nostalgic, of course, and I’ll love to see them again in Classic. For live, I still prefer the new models. At least my dwarf no longer looks like he has to eternally sneeze but just can’t.

It’s all nostalgia, to me at this point. Back before 2004, I had been playing games like Quake II and III, Neverwinter Nights, Unreal, etc…they all used similar textures and maps, bmp’s so some of the npc’s from say NWN looked similar to the first WOW faces. Some of the clutter and environment was also similar, especially say Stormwind to Castle Never. Even the swords and bows for NWN were almost the same in early WoW.

Seeing the old Tauren of Camp T and the orcs and trolls of xroads, is always a blast from the past, and it was nice to have a weekend off of work and college to raid from Friday to Sunday. One of the reasons I make alts is to kinda relive that whole era…I’m rambling…but I’d like to have the option to turn off the new look, once in a while.

My female Nelfs became fem football players with hippy smiles. Wasn’t a fan. Still not. I should not be smiling like an idiot or running like a football player.

And male Nelfs have sticking out, broken necks.

As someone who started off in BC. New models all the way! People say they are kind of cartoony looking, but i think it makes them all look more visually appealing to eye.

Speaking of which… hyped for my new models!

The absolute only ones that are bad compared to old models are human males. They didn’t do right by them. Went with a runescape style or something. Main thing is however they did it, the theme was changed while things like draenei and blood elves were simply enhanced with an unchanged theme.

Basically this, except that I would also throw in Nelf and Tauren males as well. I just can’t even take them seriously any more. Tauren look super goofy, honestly they remind me of Goofy, and Nelves feel like pansies. Just their whole vibe. Both races used to have this tall, dark, and brooding look, but now they feel very happy, and tree hugger hippie like.

I forgot about night elves, you’re right. That idle animation moves their entire body left to right. And tauren do look cartoony instead of noble. Like that one cartoon Back at the Barnyard
