Cant be solo'd
Upon exiting a chess piece that piece disappears and cant be reentered or targeted by the other pieces. These pieces never count for kills and thus the enemy (or you) can win. After this the fight cant be reset and I am permanently silenced throughout the rest of the raid.
/reload does not reset the fight.
Player death does not reset the fight.
Reentering the raid does not reset the fight.
Medivh has been cheating for several minutes now.
Logged in hours later fight has reset, problem still occurs and fight cannot reset normally.
Reporting the same issue. Experienced all the same problems as Souplordjay. Tried running the event on multiple toons last night, and this morning with the same result.

Time to just leave the door open since poor ole Razorgore got nerfed out of his PITA status, might as well remove the chess time sink too.

just happened to me as well. I managed to beat it by controlling a cleric and kiting stuff into medivh's fire, but yeah, every piece i used then exited just disappeared. I wish there was a shortcut to the prince, since all i want is my Vivi hat :(

same, three weeks running on two different characters. Since you have to start with the king, and doing nothing but controlling the king guarantees a loss, there is currently no way to complete the event solo.

To be fair, this isn't entirely true. If you do suffer from the disappearing king issue, you can then grab the queen and make sure all the large-damage pieces die first. You can easily get it down to just the opponent's king and another piece or two (hopefully pawns) and from there you can kite the other pieces around the board, whittling them down.
It's not a quick win, nor is it guaranteed, but it is a way to try to eke out the win when the issue comes up.
Best strategy imo is using a priest and keeping him out of fire and keeping up other pieces. i only lost once when i moved out of fire but into king cleave range and had both move and heal on cd and died.

I had the disappearing king issue as well (last week), and ended up having to do a soft reset then changing how I went about the fight.
I made a macro:
I placed that macro on a button that isn't 0-9 (as those get taken over when you control a piece)
I use the macro to stop controlling the king (and later, each piece) instead of hitting "exit" and this seems to prevent the king from disappearing again, at least for me it worked.
Not that he should disappear in the first place....but at least this is something to try until they fix it. Hope this helps.

Same for me, happened last week, and now again this week. Literally cannot complete Kara anymore.

i had to open a ticket because i was permasilenced and stuck on prince fight
i think its time now to blizzard make the chess fight optional or give the open loot box treatment

During the Chess event, you can right-click the Control Piece buff or use the "/cancelaura control piece" command to leave the piece and avoid the issue. I haven't yet seen a post that says this hasn't worked, so it should work pretty well.

i did the chess event (just cheese with llane) and even won, but the silence effect was still on me, even after i left the room
i coudn't even attack or use any skill, even deathgate

That's actually a much different issue. If you did win (and got loot) you can definitely soft reset the instance and the "Game in Progress" aura will go away. A long enough wait will usually also work, but that is just as long as a soft reset on rare occasions.
