Ok, so think pre World of warcraft as it is now, like 17+ years ago. I used to play a game online with a buddy.
We would set up bases, and create little ore trucks that would get ore in order to make money and fortify your base. I remember artillery, tanks, etc. you could move around as AI would attack your base.
WHAT WAS THIS GAME!!! Its driving me nuts for the name…
You’ve unfortunately described pretty much every even slightly futuristic war-based RTS game - not just of the early 2000s. Command and Conquer (probably not the original), KKND, Earth 2150, or Dawn of War spring to mind. Searching adds a few other options like Full Spectrum Warrior, Original War, Real War, or Virtual Warfare. I’m not sure if all of those involve ore (it’s been a while for the ones I’ve played) but it’s possible there’s something close enough to it.
It’s possible it may even have been some kind of tower defense game from your description, but I don’t recall them being particularly common back then so I’d have no idea what it might have been.
Is there anything else you remember about it? Graphic style - 3D graphics, pre-rendered 2D, or a top-down, browser-type game? Were the units free-moving or stuck to a very obvious grid? UI across the sides or bottom?
Command and conquer! THATS the name!
I think there’s a remaster of Command and Conquer. I watched Preach stream it was like a a year or 2 two ago. It’s about $7 right now.
we only do the basic ones first. so we learn stuff.
people will never understand. trying to work on perfection.
