Sometimes I can find old forums threads on archive.org, other times I can’t. It seems the period right before TBC came out is just missing. Maybe I don’t know how to use archive.org properly.
Does anybody have tips on finding old forums threads (particularly class forums) from the 1.12 timeframe, or are they in fact lost to time?
What was the old address for the forums?
I started by just visiting worldofwarcraft.com and clicking the link to the forums there, but starting mid-2006, everything is redirects. It seems forums.worldofwarcraft.com was a thing for a while, but none of the links from that main page work in the timeframe I’ve been looking for.
The individual forums weren’t captured, so you can only pull the page that gives you the categories.

Real shame though. I’d love to lookup my old posts in the hunter forum. If memory serves me correct, I believe there were realm forums too?

Well, it’s a good thing I saved a local copy of the warlock demonology guide I wrote. I might even re-post it, come the day.
Yeah I’d love to see some of that old stuff because I’ve been posting off and on since Vanilla ( on various characters ). It also explains why I can never seem to find many of those old blue posts so that I can prove or disprove an old statement.
Yeah, it would be so great to go back to that stuff. We could see what people were posting about, complaining about, doing guides about… I honestly can’t even remember!
About the only thing I remember, although not the details really, was the battles over the hybrid tax. It could get nasty.
Oh yeah, and the Pally forums had so many buff requests you couldn’t find other threads lol

Those just take me to the “That page was not archived” page I was getting. What year and day did you click?
I can get the main page, but if I click any of the class forums it is just a nothing Burger.

OK now, was able to pull up Steamwheedle Cartel and then a few of my husband’s old posts. He was a huge RPr and the posts are a bit cringey, to say the least. I am delighting in sending him the links.
Anybody who didn’t buy TBC would have seen Azeroth turn into something of a ghost town, at least until the new dungeons/raids there were put in.
