I’m working to get old mounts that you get from the original factions emissaries for being exalted with that faction (e.g., Swift rams for Ironforge exalted, Swift hawkstriders for Silvermoon exalted, etc.).
I’m looking through the ones I need, and even though I’ve never played a troll or goblin, and don’t have exalted on any characters for darkspear or bilgewater, somehow I’ve got the goblin trikes and the troll swift raptors. Also have Stormwind swift horses and forsaken swift undead horses but no exalted rep with either of them.
Did I miss something? Is the rep no longer required? Did I get lucky on some glitch?
Thing is I don’t even remember buying the goblin trikes… I feel like I would have remembered that. But boom… there they are in my mount tab and I can ride em and everything.
I think you can buy them if you are the race in question instead of being exalted.

I think they also convert from their counterparts. That’d explain the troll and goblin stuff. If you buy one then the other side unlocks their version too.

Hmmm… that may be. Mounts I DON’T have are the mechanostriders for the gnomes (except for the unpainted mechanostrider. somehow I have that one) and the kodos for tauren. Not sure why those are the only ones I don’t have.
What Asana said, a friend who recently started playing discovered that when they made a Horde toon and discovered they had a bunch of mounts at 20. I don’t know when they changed it though.

Did you faction change a toon?

Nope, I’ve never faction changed any of my toons. Never race changed either.
I’ve got 5 characters at level 120: Two belfs and an orc on horde and a worgen and a dwarf on alliance.
Puzzling…
Most of the older faction-specific mounts have a Horde equivalent that is also automatically unlocked. You may have noticed this when you looked at your total mounts vs mounts counted toward a mount collection achievement and you saw a discrepancy in the numbers.

Make a trial toon of that race, mail them some gold, buy the mounts
