Thoughts on bringing back the really old Elite PVP gear? I know people will cry and rage about this because it’s been discussed many times.

If people could pay gold cap for ZG mount - how come the oldschool players don’t complain?
To be fair I know it’s based on each season but I see zero reason and logic to not bring them back with any kind of method.
The only fair and reasonable system for bringing back the old elite gear is to make a new currency that is awarded for wins over 2k rating that can be used to purchase old elite sets, similar to marks of honor.
Since the old gear required 2k rating to obtain the full set this makes the most sense to me.
Dude I wouldn’t even mind if they made the req to get the old Elite gear to earn 2400+ rating.
Not all, The Cata Elite gear you needed 2200+ If I remember correctly been a long time. At least for the Elite weapon or something.
Yeah I agree. It’s silly that you can get old mythic gear and mounts but can’t get the old pvp ones.
Either remove it all or keep it all unlocked.
You can’t get the ZA mount, which was limited time, on the BMAH. You can get ZG mounts but they existed for two expansions after they were relevant. They were never intended to be limited rewards and were only removed because of a revamp. Same with t3. It’s not the same as a seasonal reward.
Not every set was 2k. 4 seasons of sets were 2200 and when you consider rating inflation none of it is the same. Getting 2k in RBGs this season is cake compared to earning elite sets in say s12.
But this is never going to happen anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.

I keep hearing this, do you remember back in days when people said Vanilla Classic WoW won’t ever happen? and how many threads used to discuss that? now we have Vanilla.
Same goes for account wide Gladaitor mounts or whatever… I really don’t see that “Never going to happen”
Sure I mean it doesn’t matter what rating they set it at just saying I think that would be a decent system for unlocking old sets.
I understand the challenge of pvp changes every season but people who pve only don’t have that system in place at all. They work their balls off to complete mythic raids and then in the next xpac a random group of pugs rips through it in 20 minutes for all the drops.
The difference is that they already tried to bring them back. It was datamined and there was enormous uproar on twitter. They posted a thread on the forum for feedback which was post capped in a few hours. They then tweeted that they weren’t going to do it because of community feedback. It’s not happening.

Kind of irrelevant anyway. It’s just transmog and it’s not normal to have some weird attachment to an item appearance. It’s really not a big deal if they unlock them, ya’ll are weird lol.
I think blizz proposed to bring these back a really long time ago under the requirements that you would need 2200+ in arena to earn them but the PvP community was vocal about not wanting them to return so they scrapped the idea

it is a big deal. should people be able to get grand crusader and famed slayer titles just because they missed out on it the first time around? titles are just cosmetic
mage tower appearances are cosmetic, challenge mode sets from wod are cosmetic, doesn’t mean they should be available again
Yeah they 100% should be available again. I understand titles being locked because people for some reason need something to show how cool they are but as far as weapon and armor appearances, nah.
It’s silly to create incredibly cool pieces of gear and then lock them away forever. Just because you got something 6 years ago doesn’t mean a new player shouldn’t be able to go and get it if they want to put in the effort to do so.

PvP sets are attached to a skill-based reward, the ZG tiger could be solo farmed until the last day before the Cataclysm.

You wouldn’t need to overthink this. I love the idea and they already have a system to deliver it to us if they wanted. Blizz simply sets another pvp vendor or vendors with the sets selling at 12 marks as always, but they would be locked until you qualify for purchase.
No Black market, making the purchase too limited and unfair.
No new currency for them to track and keep up with.
…and opens a door for them to introduce (test) pvp events to get people doing it. Like when the anniversary event happened, just for marks as always and the renown that unlocks the vendors.
I’ve never been a fan of timed exclusives. There’s been so many amazing cosmetics that have been forever lost for no real good reason. Bring the elite gear back for transmog.
