I would love to be able to replay the old content, but I’d want to actually play through it. Not 1-shot everything in site. I know we have Timewalking for dungeons/raids, and I have replayed all the Cat content on an alt by disabling experience at level 49 (unfortunately I forgot that Chromie Time becomes disabled at level 48, so when I tried swapping expansions I got locked out).
Does anyone else think the idea of having the option to have old content scale up to level 60 for questing/story purposes? So you can use your main to play old zones, rather than be forced to use an alt?
Chromie time and freezing xp needs some improvements for sure.
I don’t see why we can’t scale to 60 on alts with chromie time while questing.
50-60 dungeons should probably still stay SLs to keep queue times short for relevent content.
XP toggle should be an option from anywhere not running to an NPC. I’m sure people could abuse this somehow but not sure how. Maybe a limited amount of toggles a day if so?
Chromie time should be an option on your first character. BFA should not be forced, especially their dungeons.
They can do so much more with chromie time.
But if I want to one shot all old stuff that should be an option.
If someone doesn’t want to run SL dungeons and would rather run older ones, I doubt they’re going to bother queueing at all. Especially if they became burnt from running the same 8 dungeons over and over.
I’ll use myself as an example. Leveled 12 or so alts to 60 during the anniversary and not once did I do an SL dungeon. If I want to run a dungeon to level to 60 I’m queueing during timewalking to do it.
I’d love to be able to run old content without level locking or rerolling. I started in legion so there is a ton I haven’t done.
Simple solution is make Chromie available at level 60. Max out old ilvl at current content questing greens, so nothing is too strong for current endgame/people don’t feel like they need to farm it.
I don’t even care if it’s available from 51-59, just let me complete the characters I have at max without it being a joke.
That would mean a huge increase in network services, the bandwidth blizz pays their isp, which is the primary reason for not allowing open and free access to all parts of the game from your main well developed 60.
Thing is I don’t care. They can fill the bandwidth left by the mass exodus of players. No one is using that bandwidth.
It’s a way to keep people like me subbed during content droughts or during patches I’m not really juiced for like the next one, rather than shifting to free to play like I tend to do when I’m bored with current live game.
I’d be way more likely to keep my game time up if this was an option.
How would including scaling increase to level 60 increase bandwidth? They already have zone scaling available at 1-50 and 50-60 while allowing people of different levels to interact with the same NPCs/mobs. So it’s not like it’ll force extra instances to be made. And if it results with an increase in player base, wouldn’t that be a good thing?
They don’t do options. A lot of people wanted an option for crz to. Never happened. Option for item level scaling?=Nope. Edit. I guess rp realms did manage to get out of old content being crz for good reason, because of people trolling rp events, but other than that everyone else is stuck with it.
When no one is accessing a certain section of the game it doesn’t get loaded on the server end decreasing both processor load and bandwidth needed. If they opened up the entire world the way it used to be it would require more server blades and more data transfered.
If you want to roll a new character and keep them stuck in old content sure. Yeah, that’s still a thing.
If you want to do it on a max level character it’s one shot over powered play or nothing though.
For folks like me who weren’t around for 3/4 of the expansions and who want to play (not over power them) on the characters we enjoy it’s sort of ‘reroll or nothing’ though.
Chromie time would have opened up the the whole world to people who started late without the level lock being required. I didn’t even know this was a thing until like a year into playing - so most of the characters I feel invested in have like 10 out of 80 zones under their belt with no rep maxed, etc… at least for before Legion which was my 1st rodeo.
