Old content as Endgame

Hello
This post is a proposal for wow retail and its old content.

I’ve been playing world of warcraft time by time making my path through this amazing world touching old content, killing old bosses, running old dungeons… But all that fantasy dies in endgame content and old content get in the oblivion.

My proposal is, Bring those old Raids and dungeon back into the endgame without a special week like timewalking, I mean the whole content. Encourage player to clean old content in a excited way for the reward of transmog.

Transmog nowadays doesn’t mean anything, I mean there is not story behind that mog, the player wasn’t in great adventure to acquire it.

So if we take the TBC expansion for example and we want to run Steamvault in normal, Looking for Pattern: Battlecast Hood, The player will need to use Equipment, Enchants, gems, potions related to TBC to get into the instance, but He can’t do it all alone, He will need a group, a team party with the same expansion equipment to be able to clean the dungeon, they will be scale down to lv 70 which is the max level for TBC, Only will be able to use spell and talents unlocked in lv 70. The dungeon will take the time they take to do it and the reward will be Transmogs that can be use as equipment to keep cleaning TBC content with team-mates or a raid.

This will get people together to clean old content, dungeon or raids as a endgame, to show those Transmogs off with a reason, beside that the profession will play a good factor, keeping all material from all expansion as a resource for old content, keeping the profession relevant and not just for the last expansion.

That’s what I think the game should change, I think this will encourage guilds, team-mates to set the focus in the game content and not the last expansion content, make more fun weeks cleaning last content raid and MOP or other expansion raid with the same people, only changing the equipment.

Thanks.

So basically you just want throwback servers.

Because that is literally just a throwback server.

No, What I mean is keep the old content relevant and excited as a endgame that the player can choose to play.

I find it exciting to clear them weekly right now for the reward of Transmog. Many collectors do. Changing them into Max Level content would ruin the game for many people.

Why ruin the game, Because it gets hard? That sounds more like a excuse

I like this idea. I think that the harder difficulty raid gear transmogs should be a badge of honor for clearing hard content.

However, there are also players that really enjoy clearing trivial raid content for transmogs. I don’t want to completely kill an aspect of the game that some people enjoy. I think, for those players, there should be a new trivial “transmog run difficulty” for raids. In that difficulty every boss is trivial to kill solo, just like it is today. No gold is dropped, and all gear drops at 0/max durability so it can’t be farmed for money.

This doesn’t really make the old high-difficulty transmogs meaningful though, unless they purged them from players who didn’t get them when the raid was relevant. They could probably do that using achievement dates, but I think there would be huge uproar from the community if they did so.

I think there is very little chance of this happening.

Actually it is because I don’t want to group with people that have your mentally about ruining the game.

Classic comes out on August 27th. You should try it.

Quit being a jackhole about people not playing the way you want them to.

It’s not the way I want, It’s the way it should be.

Plays MMO solo. Thinks people who want to require grouping up are going to ruin it.

This makes me sad.

And yes, I probably will play Classic.

Plenty of groupable content at the end game now. They even come with their own special Mythic Transmogs.

Taking other people’s game away from them isn’t the way to solve things.

Absolute, unnegotiable NO vote.

It’s up to the player, as you do to clean old content alone, or new content group out. Wow is not a MMORPG as was before, now everybody can clean 90% of the game alone, 10% it’s been force for the new expansion. MMO is what wow have now, RPG element is dead.

Sounds more like you’d rather the old expansion’s instances still have to be played as they were when they were current. I find this to be an interesting idea but at the same time it would take away something that many people enjoy doing. If there were different items offered through a system like that then that could be fun. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think a less complicated approach would be to have all old world dungeons and raids have a toggle option to bring it and its loot to whatever the current cap is.

So basically… the way you want.

no thanks…

Timewalking raids and dungeons are fine, and really no difference tbh, since the gear rewards from those are essentially transmog to a max level player.

having all the raids available and relevant to a max level at all times… will just make you feel obligated to run them. which is a con imo

Also forcing players to use equipment, enchants, gems, potions, etc specifically for each expansion’s content, thus needing to carry all those sets of gear and mats in your bags/bank… and expected to find other players carrying specific gear, mats, and equipment to be able to run it with you… yuck! no way!

issue with this is if all the gear raised to current cap… it would break the game or make players feel forced/obligated to run various old raids as gear from certain old raids would definitely be best in slot or have significant advantages over current expansion gear. Would be a nightmare for Blizzard to attempt to balance or tweak or whatever all those thousands pieces of gear from the many raids for every class and spec at max level… plus i’m sure some pieces of gear (especially trinkets with proc or on use effects) will be outright broken or overpowered…

Force?? Do you feel force cleaning old expansion content?? no you don’t, you decide to do it, because you want to look great as the other player you saw.

Perhaps. Maybe the gear can be slightly lower than current, or tier 1 of whatever expansion when tier 2 comes out.

It is a worthwhile idea to add a bit of variety to current end game.
