"Old" Casting Anitmations

Hello forum! I just wanted to know others opinion on having a toggle for using “old” animations. By this I do not mean spell effects, I mean the way the character actually casts the spell. These animations are still in the game and used on every class just not with every spell. There wouldn’t need to be much more upkeep than normal on them since they’re still used today. There would simply be an option to use the old spell casting instead of the new ones.

Personally, I’m not that fond of many of the new animations and would greatly appreciate this kind of option, but what do y’all think? Is it worth investing time into a project like this? How many players do you think would actually use it?

Edit: I wanted to clarify I’m talking about the racial animations, that are still used for some abilities. This is not about spell effects.

now more animations? that’d be just fine.

Why not both? I don’t see an issue with players enjoying the current animations, or wanting new ones, but what about the players who want the older style? Or even the option to match animations to spells, though I think that would be a large project.

My guess is that they’d have to map the old casting animations onto the new models, and it’s not worth the dev time to them.

Yes please! I miss the racial casting and the old UD male casting animations especially.

The old animations are on the new models though. For example, Mind Blast on priest still uses the old animation.
They would need to remap the animations that are different though, such as Shadow Word: Death

I think it’s going to be a bit like trying to map the old world onto the new world and something that’s just too complex for the engine.

I’m not opposed to options, but I don’t think this is a feasible one.

Me too. Id love a toggle between new/old at least.

I racechanged my undead to goblin because my little zombie looked goofy with the new animations.

If i could have the old animations id probably have an undead-only roster of casters.

I totally agree, I would probably race change my priest and lock back. I also have an issue with the UD male bounce when they run, it’s just odd, but that doesn’t address the topic. :dracthyr_uwu:

I just remember the old male gnome model’s neck looked like a noodle when he ran. It was . . . odd.

I can understand wanting oldschool undead though at least, I had one back in the day and couldn’t get into the new model. I thought I wanted it without bones but something’s still not right. Some models improved but that is one that kind of didn’t.

To add to that, the male UD model’s torso is slightly twisted to one side.

I know they are bringing back plenty of older items, that would be a fun thing to have back too so if someone had on a classic mog the spells would match!

Yes I’d love the option to. For example, can anyone really say the new casting animation for undeads is better than the old? It looks so boring now.

It would be cool if they were “transmog able” like Diablo 3 gave you the option.

I would kill for a glyph that turns Flurry back into Frostfire Bolt.
