One thing I found interesting that could make both of these ideas of Uther coexist is where Arthas stabs him. 3:18 in the video, “Bluther’s” soul is wounded over his heart, which may explain the schism of these two perspectives. Uther in Bastion is wounded in the metaphorical center of what would allow him the perspective of forgiveness, and arguably makes his memory retention more interesting if its missing this pivotal component.
Only on GD does such an innocent wording get misconstrued and overblown.
Guess i’m just too use to people on the internet using “Politically Correct” to mean anything that resembles even a fraction of left leaning ideas.
wonder if they still wouldve fused with activision if they couldve seen the future.
old blizz is probably ashamed of new blizz
Old blizzard was itchin
New blizzard is just itch
Sounds like Chris and Ion would have been one hell of a team building wow. They could inspire each other in so many ways.
But wait there’s more! (in best announcer voice)
There are actually 42 pieces of his soul that have broken off and you need to track down each and every one before you can advance. It will be a long arduous journey fraught with peril and require the purchase of many tokens.
But in the end you will be victorious and get a shiny tinfoil hat!
(giggle)

Metzen also ran dry after WotLK.
Green Jesus this…Green Jesus that…dragon coin go BRRRRRRRR
Wrath of the Lich King levels of old and forgiveness.
Then, I gotta say, I much prefer Shadowlands’ interpretation of what Uther actually felt. It’s much more consistent with the original depiction of the event that players experienced all the way back in WC3. The less retcons of WC3, the better.
They forgot a lot of things. It is very sad.
I’m slightly buoyed by the fact that there was, in fact, a special place in hell for Arthas. Sadly they seem intent on making him avoid it at the last second…
For added fun and excitement you will only be able to recover one fragment a week, oh and the drop rate is .01% off a mob that spawns randomly anywhere in the known world for 18 seconds a day.
I lost the thread of this… thread… and thought for a second we were recovering lost bits of Metzen’s soul to bring Warcraft back to good writing.
Now I’m sad.
Yeah really arthas didn’t do anything wrong. He was a martyr who sacrificed himself for his people. His whole plan was to curb the burning legion from taking over Azeroth. Which he did.
I will not say in any fashion I hate the guy. I will say I hate previous choices that were made under his watch that focus on the same things he focuses on.
Sylvanas Screen time is so much more than any leader ever had in WoW is sickening to me. Yeah I got tied of Hippy Jesus but that pales in comparison to Sylvanas.
Even as a Horde main player, Nathanos holding off Tyrande AND Malfurion? Ridiculous. He’s a rando guy with a bow who on his best day his skill with a bow might equal the warrior priestess who fought for 10,000 years. Argue all you want about a Val’kyr like those I killed in ICC. The big loss doesn’t even matter now because she got new plot armor.
Those are the kind of reasons why we find him suspect.
If Sylvanas dies for good and takes Nathanos along with her, most of us would cut him some slack.
But saying we have issues because of future possibilities is wrong. We have issues because of previous decisions.
They didn’t forget.
His soul was split in two. One part went into the blade, the other part went to the Shadowlands. The part in the blade, that is the part that forgave Arthas. The part that went to the Shadowlands was filled with pain, anger and a burning desire for justice.
Hell may or may not exist in the WoW universe. It was probably just something that was believed in in the purest theoretical sense by religious folks like Uther. For all intents and purposes, the Maw is probably functionally identical to “hell.”
The Light shall be the carcass we will build our next murderous crusade upon.
I can’t like this hard enough.
