Old arcane missiles animation

Could this come back in the form of a glyph?
It was one of my favorite animations just sending out waves of these.

I know people might like the new animation but it just feels too fast and chaotic to me.

I think back in the day when I first played and took to arcane as “my spec” it was the missiles that drew me in, they felt pretty awesome to let off the chain, looked great. I fully support the idea of your post.

I honestly dont remember the difference. I do support the old animation being turned into a glyph.

It was multiple waves of several missiles each that traveled in a linear phalanx formation and disappeared at the same point when reaching the target (which looked kind of weird). You can still see them in game at the Mage Class Hall being cast by NPCs at the training dummies. I don’t mind the new animation but it definitely looks a little too whimsical and flimsy, just like Nether Tempest. There’s definitely room for improvement. With Arcane Blast too and they even have updated VFX for it in game already with this expansion but it’s only used by NPCs the Balance Druid’s fae dragon summons.

Jumping on that one arcane blast is like a non-event when cast. Whatever animation it has is nearly invisible. For how much I cast it and how much dmg it does, they could really up the pazzaz on it.

Right now I think the best animation is arcane orb (giant purple orbs rips across the play field for a super long distance rocking everything it touches) and by the same note arcanosphere. Ice wall is pretty cool as well visually. In fact I think a lot of the ice spec is cool visuals.

The best visual from all was easily meteor (giant burning rock from the sky leaving huge scorched earth!) but as arcane I don’t get to see it. (Fire still has it right?). They made spell so weak compared to the look that it was more ironic than awesome though.

I barely notice arcane blast or barrage (though it has a kind of cool “shoom” feel to it) or nether tempest (sprinkles?)

Starting to make me think I should change specs…but I have a permanent sunk cost fallacy I can’t get over.

Yup, literally the only thing I liked in the class tree was that’s we had access to Meteor, even though it sucked. Now it’s back to being a Fire only spell.

Yeah, same. I really wanted to give Fire a go after the rework because I’ve never really played it seriously before but it’s literally got the inverse stat priority of Arcane. I have virtually no vers gear and very little haste, ain’t nobody got time to re-gear especially with how little I play these days. But yeah Fire definitely has the best visuals out of the three Mage specs. My main alt is a Destro Lock though so I get my fiery fix there.

Arcane in general just has so much untapped potential, both in terms of mechanics and visuals. It can be so much better than it is and it’s really frustrating to contend with that day in and day out. Sometimes I think I only stick with it just because I always have and purple is my favorite color, lol.

I miss the original ice lance animation and sound. Sounded like laser beams shooting across the field critting anything it touches. Was a good feeling casting it.
While we’re at it, bring back original chaos bolt plz.

I do enjoy the other animations.
But ya, new arcane missiles when they were introduced in 7.3 legit made me stop playing arc during raids lol. Just felt so janky to watch

Can we bring back the old barrage animation too?

These new spells feel so weak in comparison. They feel like there’s no force behind them

That’s nearly all spells now sadly. It’s shocking how much better spells look in Wrath classic than here. You can actually see them too, where half the spells here are 2D models that flash and disappear in less than half a second.

Yes! Please bring back old Arcane Missiles animation as a glyph!

I loved the iconic arcing geometrical missile pattern. It felt very Mage-like compared to the purple confetti we fire off today.

Big support!
