Ok, odd take, I miss the old animation and sound effect of chain heal…it was honestly more badass seeing a green beam of healing energy rather the just rapid water waves IMO, what old animations do you all miss for spells or abilities?

And, speaking of Glyphs…I want to heal with fire not GD water…Blizzard, could you please make a Glyph that changes that? Or to air or earth or something?

I don’t like the new animations for Healing Wave and Chain Heal. Almost didn’t play my shaman because it was so jarring.

I’ve been playing resto on my shaman since TBC but skipped BFA. Seems silly, but it really bummed me out when I realized they were changed. The effects themselves aren’t so bad, it’s the animations that bug me.

I have to disagree with everyone above. I love the water based heals a lot more.

I do wish Lightning Bolt would get an updated sound effect. It sounds like limp pasta, especially on enhance when it’s supposed to be a big spender.

Otherwise, I think Shaman has the most beautiful spell effects in the game. I think having a ton more glyphs to satisfy everyone should absolutely be a thing, though. Like 20 glyphs for every spec just changing up how different abilities look.

I would love to have old spell effects/sounds I hate a lot of the new ones.

  • Old lightning bolt spell effect/sound effect. I miss my ball lightning.
  • Old windfury animation. It used to look so impactful with the dark wind tornadoes spawning around your feet now I literally don’t even notice it.
  • Stormblast > wind farts: Remember in MoP when you would pop ascendance and look like a literal sith lord??? I sure do and I miss it.
  • Ascendance glyph from WoD or a new glyph that turns you into an elemental when you pop it, rather than a weird dark shaman model from cata.
  • Old stormstrike sound effect
  • Old frost shock sound effect
  • Old fire elemental: I liked when my fire ele looked like a blob of lava not a buff dude that glows orange.
  • Old chain heal
  • Old earth shock sound effect

I’d like to see them rework lightning bolt, the current form feels a bit wonky to me.

I really like the water as heals, the old green beam was cool but I really like the water.

It’d be pretty cool to see lava lash splash a bit of lava or fire around or something too, but otherwise I’ve always loved shaman effects, easily the best in the game imo

Bring back all the old classic stuff. As sound bytes and glyphs. Ez. I really liked classic earth shock actually, it feels nostalgic.

I miss the old sound effect of Chain Heal sometimes but the new water effects are much better in general in my opinion. I especially like how the water for Healing Wave travels to an ally as it casts. :ocean:

I wish ascendance made u look like a small ragnaros for elemental and a small thunderan for enhance. That would be kind of cool Id say.
I do wish Lightning Bolt looked more on par with crash lighting and had similar sound effects cause crash lighting is probably the best looking/sounding lighting spell in the game. You can hear the crashing echoing after u use it and the surge of electricity when u cast it. I love the visuals too as they almost look a little delayed when u first cast it and then the lighting strikes .2 seconds later on all the targets

Elemental is due for a spell rework.
While Resto did have their spell effect pass, Elemental has only been given a half-treatment, totally ignoring their fillers/most often cast and visceral spells.

Elemental remains the sole ranged spellcaster without a decent spell graphic overhaul for their established spell kit, when all others received theirs in Legion/BFA (The attempt to update chain lightning/lightning bolt was abandoned in the 7.3 PTR).

Let’s review:

Chain Lightning: Looks the same as it does since WOTLK
Lighting Bolt: Literally a texture, zero particle effects
Lava Burst: Looks 90% similar to the WOTLK version. Also largely texture based.

The effects team has delivered beautiful spells for Shadowlands. All covenant abilities have high-density, wonderful (read: 2020 appropriate) spell graphics and particles. Superb job, love um all.

Now please give the same love to Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning. I don’t want to embarrass the team by pointing out that the 2011 MMO SWTOR has far superior lightning effects for their Sorcerer class, compared to 2020’s WoW (9 years guys, 9 years…)
