Okay, so I need a Little Help with TRP3

Hey, All.

So, I rolled my Alliance character, and I have decided that I like it here and want to learn how to play/participate.

I discussed some basics about who Meriweather the priest is with my husband (I can’t post on. her, yet, for some reason here at the forums). We came up with enough that I feel like I know who she is a little bit, and I think it’s enough to be IC in the world with people.

That said, I have never done this and the mod is very big…and I’m not sure how to finish it out. Help?

I filled out the basic tab with name/title/personality traits. I think I have that right. As to the About Tab:

There are a LOT of buttons at the top of the About section that mean nothing to me, so if someone could help with what H1/H2, etc. mean? That whole red button bar in the about tab is killing me. No idea what any of that is.

Sure, I could use google and YouTube, but the idea is to come to the MG community, right? So I am starting here.

Any advice for setting up my character’s public face through the mod would be appreciated. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I want to “git gud” as it were.

All the H1 stuff is for editing text, font size, and so on, and is pretty much based on a form of HTML.

There are lots of options to create individual boxes for text and the like, with options to include wow icons. Best recommendation I can actually give you is to play around, because that’s how you’ll find combinations that you like. Type important text into Notepad or the like, and save it so you won’t lose it.

But you don’t have to look like a pro, and your profile will naturally develop as you play. So put up a little info…leave room in for the story for inspiration during RP, because good RP is really improv anyhow…and get out there. Those who matter won’t mind, and those who mind won’t matter.

The miscellaneous tab can be used to show quick view items. “At First Glance” you select an icon and give it a brief description. I use it for things someone may notice by just looking at my character. Example being a shrunkin skull that Mekgrim carries attached to his belt. You could also note appearance, decorative weapons, trinkets etc.

Currently (IC), list something about your characters demeanor, jobs, hobby they’re doing ect. (OOC) section i tend to fill with “Open to walk’up rp.” There’s no rules saying you have to fill in everything so take your time. Explore and definitely read other players TRP. It will give you some ideas.

The “H” stands for Heading, and each of the 3 has a different font size, ranging from biggest to smallest. I tend to use Headings 2 and 3 most over Heading 1, and with my own TRP profile, I’ve separated it into “sections” or “chapters” with names and whatnot.

Like when I got to his biography, I used H2 and wrote, “The Early Years” to describe his life up until what is essentially the point when I began to play him. So I clicked “H2” and in between the text that would create the heading when the page was saved, I wrote the words in quotations above.

For each of the various chapters after I brought Beredric into the public eye, I tried to keep it concise with dates of when they occur. Such as one of my latest updates, “(December, 2018)”. For these I used H3.

What is important to know is that most of it really doesn’t absolutely have to be worked out right away. It might be a good idea to sort of explore it as you go. Add a little bit here, a little bit there, and eventually you’ll find your TRP has grown into a fully fleshed-out profile.

Just…Be wary of the warning that says, “Your profile is a bit big, you might want to reduce it!” or something like that. Don’t be like me and keep typing until it takes days for some people to load your profile…

See, and I’m one who could end up doing that! Ha ha. I like the idea of having just enough for people to decide if they want to interact with her and leaving the rest for people to learn if they want to know her IC ingame. Like with a real person, we don’t know anything about them without observing and getting to know them.

I like what Mekgrim said:

I like that a lot because that’s all anyone would know about her at first…the odd things that you’d notice by looking.

I made a few emotes to help with walk-up RP…anyway. I’m off to quest and level some more.

I appreciate you. Thanks so much for the advice. Very helpful.
