I’m not sure if this is a continuity error or if I don’t fully understand the functionality of Shalamayne. But when Varian had Shalamayne, the light inside of it was an orangey-red color. Now since Anduin is a priest the color inside of Shalamayne is yellow. But when he passes Shalamayne to Saurfang, the color inside the sword did not change. Does the color depend on the rightful owner of the sword, aka Anduin and previously Varian? Or does it depend on whoever is holding the sword at the time? I was under the impression that the sword responds to whoever is holding it.
Also back in the Legion trailer when Varian picks up his sword from his back, there’s a… “power on” sound I guess? Like a swoosh of power and the color starts glowing from there. But when Anduin grabs the sword from his waist, its just already fully “powered on”.
I am most definitely overthinking this, but I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that.
I think Anduin blessed it with the light. That’s it’s new color until someone changes it.

I think its pretty clear that means saurfang was a paladin this whole time. Orc paladins confirmed.

So, you are saying that Anduin mounted his transmog yak and changed the weapon effect.

I’m down for Orc Paladins.

But how come when Varian had it, it would go dormant on his back?
I think that’s just for dramatic effect. I don’t think there is an actual reason lol.
I killed a dragon in game yesterday. A freakin’ dragon.
I think all that is for dramatic effect and nothing else.
Maybe… Shalamayne was already powered on before the Mak’gora? As Varian did, Anduin powered on Shalamayne before the battle for some sort of warm-up?
The light remained when Varian got out of the water, so… Once it’s on, it’s not turned off automatically if the owner wants to keep fighting. Haha

More proof that Shalamayne should have been the Warrior artifact for Legion. It can be wielded by anyone, and can be used in Arms or Fury spec. Such a missed opportunity.
Edit: And it’s not like Varian was using it…

Anduin relit it when he accepted his role back in Legion. Everything else is for dramatic effect.
Im pretty sure Shalamayne glows the aura of the person yielding it. Emanating their source of power.
My guess is Shalamayne is powered by the person wielding it IF they have magical power, which is why it didn’t change color for Saurfang since he has no mojo.
It eventually gets depowered when it depletes all of it’s power which is why it eventually turns off for Varian. Anduin, who we assume has significantly more magical power than his father, is constantly radiating his light magic into the sword so it always stays powered on around him. Varian, who has significantly less magical power, needs to hold it to power it. Saurfang, who has no magical power, is lucky Anduin’s over abundance of magical power gave the sword enough power to last the fight.
That’s my guess.
