So you gonna tell me that drac priests get cool and unique spell animations. But we can’t get druids shaman or paladins because of art assets???
This just reinforces my belief that Blizz is pushing priests to reroll Dracthyr by giving them our much-needed interrupt, our removed knockback, and the movement we’ve been begging for.
That’s fine. Now give me my drac paladin plz…
I’ll take a place holder charger like LFD did for an entire expansion and a half
I hate that this makes sense…
It’s “unique” in that it’s a different color, but it’s not actually unique. This is the same effect used when you cast Eternity Surge, but a different color. I’m sure that’s drastically easier to do than creating entirely new art assets.
we desperately need more Pally Race/Class combos. Especially on Ally, the options are Human (but only one of them lol) , two kinda of Space goat people, or 3 reskins of Dwarf.
I’d ever take a Dracthyr pally, wouldn’t need any new assets, just use their wings instead of a steed. lol
I hate to be that person… But these really arent unique at all. They’re taking existing particles and textures that they have been/will be using for other things and just rotating the offset to make it appear animated on the mesh of the wings and such.
Reusing existing textures and particles over existing models and rotating the offset is a lot different than meshing, unwrapping and texturing a new mesh model and/or editing an existing mesh model to have new mesh features.
This stuff already existed they just shifted the colors to match. It’s not a new effect at all
This is just graphic effects on their wings… they’re not making anything new.
Except they had to be coded into specifically dracthyr priests along with the new particle color effects…
Is the effort the same, orob not. But it’s still extra effort.
They could have made simple place holder assets for the missing classes.
They have the resources to at least do that. Let’s be real
They reuse the Eternity Surge wing visuals as a replacement for the small pair of wings that would otherwise clip with the model’s. It’s ‘unique,’ but not new, and a texture, not an animation.
Depends on how they script/code stuff. It’s very likely and highly possible that its a simple script of “When SpellUsed, apply ThisTexture to ThisMaterial of ThisMesh and offset ThisTexture by ThisDegrees at ThisSpeed for ThisAmountofTime”
Which they already have written for many other things that turn players/npcs glowey/special effects on their entire body or on certain parts.
Without knowing exactly what their coding process is, I cant say for sure. But it def isnt as much work as a new model, even if that new model is just data transfering the skeleton rig from an existing character.
ALSO! Don’t get me wrong. I think they need to stop being stinky and give us new models and such for many things.
But they wont, at least not in the super near future. They prefer to lay off all of their staff and try to save as much money as they can
They have the new effect because giving extra wings to a race that already has wings would be silly. All they really had to do was retexture Eternity Surge.
We’re not getting Druid, Shaman, or Paladin because of lore incompatibilities.
The entire race is some developer’s fetish and Blizzard just keeps proving it.
True priest will love Dracthyr racials like extra mobility and access too interrupts although on long cooldowns.
then you would turn into a silly, floppy lizard from the V for Victory tv show.
ew ew ew!
I mean, I think it’s a neat race for what it is.
If anything doesn’t make sense it’s warlocks…
How you gonna spin a group of drac warlocks existed 10k years before the legion even set foot in azeroth.
Shammies paladin and druid all make perfect sense
Dark ascension creates wings on your character so it would look silly if they had that on a dracthyr.
The more important question is why the hell does dark ascension have a cast time?
I had a moment of growth last night and realised I’d actually be ok with dracthyr paladins. More than ok in fact. I’d love it! They’ve got Tyr and the Tyr’s Guard right outside valdrakken! And there is a long established history between Tyr and the dragons.
