You can now get it after first boss if you get kicked.
Don’t get kicked.
Yep, deserter penalty is no longer removed for killing a boss after community outcry from players leaving heroic Ara Kara.
So, instead of focusing on that one dungeon that’s a problem, they do it to all and call it a day? Even leveling dungeons?

I wouldn’t say that dungeon was a problem, but people wanted harsher deserter debuff and got it.
Blizzard likes using a sledge hammer to fix issues that could be fixed with a scalpel.
Welcome to the Blizzard solution for players leaving after the first boss in Ara-Kara, City of Echoes during Heroic dungeon week when farming for the Ara-Kara Sacbrood trinket; now everyone is punished because of some complainers.
“Everyone” or people ditching dungeons early?
Everyone leaving or being kicked out of dungeons.
It’s more that Blizz looked at their metrics and made the change based off of that.
The thing about getting kicked out of dungeons? Yeah, that’s been around since Wrath.
The thing about leaving or getting kicked after one boss? Yeah, that’s new and warranted due to how folks were leaving Ara-Kara en masse.
Don’t leave a dungeon or behave in such a way where people will want to kick you after a single boss. This isn’t rocket science.
Oh and this idea of “just fix the problematic dungeon”…
- It wasn’t the dungeon that was the problem.
- The reason for why it happened in the first place is something which can happen in other dungeons in the future.
- To specifically target the specific reason, without making a systematic change to how Dungeon Deserter is applied, would require significantly restricting Blizzard’s ability to design loot for bosses in the future.
So… no.
The change was needed, warranted, and definitely one if not the absolute best way to solve it.
I don’t see a problem with this.
Most dungeons are around 10 mintues max these days. No idea why you would leave early vs just finish.
Refer to my first reply in this topic.
Yes, putting powerful trinkets on the last boss of a dungeon is too difficult of a concept to grasp.
It’s the classic Blizzard overcorrection
That didn’t answer the question.
You leave after first boss, you still have a 12 minute dungeon cooldown since you left early.
Just spending half that time clearing the dungeon is more time efficient, especially if your goal is to gear target bosses.
I just think it’s great how it extended into LFR too. That’s just hilarious lol.
It gives you actual deserter. 30 minutes.
It does now, prior it was a 10 to 15 minute dungeon finder cooldown that prevented you from queuing.
That was limited to LFD. It didn’t lock you out of LFR, BGs, etc.
Now a kick for any reason = get rekt in all queued content.
