Idk, I like how things are now.
I think the statement about “skill” being tied to “twitch reaction time” makes sense, and makes me think more of a game of chess and decision making mixed in while balancing awareness of multiple factors and variables. I don’t think the game should be: actions per minute = success if the choices being made don’t have a significant cost vs reward.
I think it’s an interesting balance right now and find myself in plenty of scenarios being put into a bad situation because I was mismanaging my globals - and I definitely capitalize off this window against my opponents. For instance on Shaman, missing your grounding totem on trap or something vital because your on GCD from Riptide, or you can’t pre-earthen a go because of something similar. I see this happen a lot with my opponents, my teammates, and on streams where that GCD window effects people and I do think it allows for windows of skill separation.
Idk why people relate reaction time to skill or even when it comes to kicks because most of the time you should be landing your kicks late into the cast or if you’re going for an instant kick its most likely going to be off the characters movement and decision to be ready to kick then versus at that very second realizing you should be ready to kick.
As someone who typically does well in games requiring quick reaction times, the quicker GCDs may ultimately only benefit me, but I don’t think that’s going to change the game in any way from being less to more skill demanding.

I don’t mind needing several gcds to roll burst if AND ONLY if everybody on my team has things to create a setup and doing that in coordination offers us the opportunity to do stuff. Needing 4 globals to get off relevant damage on a spec that can only cc once a minute for 2 gcds worth of cc feels horrible.

Twitch reactions that feel good. Purge interrupting a paladin. Juking a kick. Reflecting a coil. Killing a cap totem.
Twitch reactions that feel bad. Trying to click gateway with a zoo on you. Trying to click breach with a zoo on you. Trying to find a mindflay tendy with a zoo out. Trying to find a psyfiend among a zoo. Trying to find a grounding totem to attack with pet to beat chaos bolt to cast finish.
Little to none of these are GCD dependent. Lots of these are mouse click issues. I’m a mediocre FPS player usually relying heavily on tactics over skill and aim. Almost up to plat after the split in Apex, hurrdurr. However, trying to find, click, and use my pet attack in a 1.5-2.0 second time frame can be ridiculously difficult for me to pull off. Like I know how I need to counter it, but performing the action each time remains difficult. Similarly, when fearing a DK on his/her go and gating away it can be difficult to click the gate through the massive array of pets. The GCD on the enemy healer who will likely dispel after can mean the difference from me rocket jumping away out of LOS negating the go, or being gripped back wasting gate.
At the very least Blizz should let us bind a button for interactables that works for things like gate, breach, quest items etc that let us hit a key to activate something near us rather than click it.

I really wish Hpal CD’s were not on GCD…
If they actually just made all the GCD’s for CD’s do something meaningful like ascendance now does, it really wouldn’t be that bad.
But then again what’s the point in doing that instead of just having it off GCD
I agree it is very anticlimactic to pop dark soul just to watch people scatter. Would rather see them all have active components that do something.
Finding tendril amongst a zoo of pets is awful - especially with larger hit box stuff like abom.
Sometimes I even find it hard to target a psyfiend when it spawns on top of the priest and even though I’m reacting to it, clicking it is difficult and it gets more ticks than I’d like. This feels like less of a skill issue in this game than anything else. These are situations that I’m sure happen to everyone and they don’t feel good. On the alternative, I don’t think that just making a totem stomp macro feels good either. Blizz needs to address the click stomp abilities in the game to function differently because neither solutions feel good to the user or victim.

If I had a nickle for everytime I accidentally CCed a unholy swarm by accident. I’d be a wealthy woman .
i use a one button macro either way increased gcd just means haste is always the most important stat.
I’ve read this statement multiple times now in different quotes and I can’t come to any other conclusion besides that statement contradicts itself.
I get that they didn’t want 1 button macros to play the game for people, combining every damage cooldown + trinket into one button and obliterating people in a GCD (Legion Frost DK LOL). But how can they state that “you probably shouldn’t die” if you mess up a GCD, and yet that’s exactly how the game plays right now? If I misuse one GCD as a pally right now I can’t press bubble and I’m dead because my biggest defensive is tied to a global.
At the same time if I press wings on a target I intend to kill it’s super obvious I’m about to burst. A good MW will immediately roll/port out of range of HoJ, and other classes immediately respond with defensives. Which means I have to HoJ first and then wings, wasting precious stun time I need to maximize globals to net a kill. It’s completely backwards to how solid gameplay should be. A good review of what should and shouldn’t be on the GCD still needs to take place.

When you press flash of light and you’re in the middle of your 1.2sec gcd and the gpy flat hits you thru a pillar because lmao i thought i lined it and you just died bc the stopcast macro doesn’t work on gcd. FEELSAWFULMAN

I’ve pondered this most of this expac where almost every spec just goes haste > versa
Like haste literally does nothing for lasso, and going full haste makes skyfury for me worthless 85% of the time but if I dont go haste my character can only do a 3rd of actions others do.
It doesn’t even add ticks or partial ticks to lasso?

Lasso scales strictly off crit and versa, you could sim stat weights conflict and strife major for PvE and watch haste drop
When PvP was at its best most of the skill came from predicting what your opponent was about to do and countering it, not twitch reactions. It was comparable to a fighting game. The problem is that a lot of the situations where you could outplay someone by predicting what they will do have been removed due to ability pruning and class simplification. Successfully predicting and countering something yields very little reward as well. I think point number two mainly stems from the lack of threatening damage outside of long cooldowns.
At least in classic if a rogue predicts a death coil and vanishes to avoid it, the rogue can punish hard and usually get a kill. In MoP if you reflected a deep freeze you could just win the game right then and there. In a similar situation in BfA if a warrior predicts a coil and reflects it, the lack of damage as well as demon armor probably means he won’t get a kill unless the lock was already low. He only saved himself from eating a free chaos bolt and the game will go on with only a slight advantage for the warrior.
Point is the game doesn’t need to be based on twitch reactions to be highly skill-based.

Hence the whole, “wow they played so bad” or “they’re so sht” as you lose because you’re characters power budget is tied to almost everything but the player
It’s so boring and demotivating to log in and realize I need to farm coalescing visions, mythics, raids, residuum, get lucky on rolls, hope for residiuum islands, finally do a vision, not get RNG’d on madness or whatever, 5 mask it, get leech/avoidance/void ritual mastery piece.
Before I think of arena
Go into arena and look at the state of it and all I had to do to even queue up.
I personally can’t enjoy anymore lol, not even to jus mess around
