Ok, what would it take?

So I was brwosing around the other day for some info on classic and was suggested a video to watch. This gentleman rebuilt Westfall in unreal engine. Let me tell you, I was originally pulled to wow because of the large beautiful world that i was thrown into for the first time upon logging in. Not all the mechanics and abilities but the beautful place that was new to discover. If Blizzard could be convinced to bring this guy on and remake the game in unreal engine I would absolutely fall in love all over again with the game. Shout out to Frits_Mulder.

reminds me of bad company two, was expecting to see a wind turbine with a sniper on top of it

looking at vids lol I completely misremember the colour scheme of bfbc2
I’d hate to see raid combat / spells for a full raid in unreal engine.

UE in its base version is real bad, and you need to be a god of code to polish that turd… In reality im being unfair here because it was built in a way so that anyone can use it… My only complaint is how the default graphics are like canned goods and have a very specific look that takes the skills to make actually good.

it is a pretty cool project/video :expressionless:

It’s easy to make random 1 minute scenery videos in an engine, it’s harder to make it work in a satisfying way with gameplay and customizable character models. And generally “realistic” settings and models don’t age very well, while artistic stylized ones do. It’s also very hard to make orcs and taurens and such that look good in a “realistic” engine, just look at the warcraft movie that looks super janky despite having an even higher CGI budget. A lot of fantasy things are better left in a stylized impressionistic setting.

They should probably make a WoW2 with a completely new story and engine at some point, but that point won’t be until retail WoW subs are no longer viable, which isn’t anywhere close to happening.

It’s pretty. It’s well made, I recognize every nook and cranny … but it’s not WoW. I would never play this game.
