prices going through the roof. I am on my 3rd day of 100+ ore and zero crystals. something is broken
nope
you’re just an unlucky little gnome
keep trying, eventually you’ll have a day where you get 3 in a row. you know what we won’t get? a post by you saying something must be broken
yeah the 30% increase in price since Tuesday doesn’t indicate an issue at all…
you’re right, it doesn’t
that is a normal price fluctuation
I can’t speak to Classic-classic because I’ve been in Wrath and Cata mostly, but my experience has been the more consistently you mine the more times the RNG gods favor you, so that means about 20 loops of Silithus to get just a handful. Fortunately extra Thorium normally sells pretty well.
It’s RNG. It’s always RNG and your inability to understand it.
You are just unlucky.
Just because it’s unlikely to roll a 2 with dice 5 times in a row doesn’t mean it isn’t possible.
By no definition
is a 30% swing “normal price fluctuation” unless the item consistently swings +/- 30% which historical AH data from TradeskillMaster shows Arcane Crystals do not.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the spawn rate.
That being said
30% fluctuation does mean something outside of normal market events is influencing the price, most likely someone attempting to reset the market. ![]()
I feel like you could reach these conclusions yourself if you weren’t in such a rush to try and beat Frosstfire’s posting record. It just leaves you trying to pass of misleading or down right wrong information as you rush to increase that post count.

RNG is RNG.
yeah but they’re arcanite bars. couldn’t a 30% increase mean some guild just got their ssecond binding and bought up all the bars and crystals they could? its a LOT more likely the price is market driven changes than a drop rate glitch
Ive been farming RTVs in DME for a while.
The rate has been consistent.
Glad I’ve been holding all my crystals knowing the prices would skyrocket eventually
with a 3% drop chance 100+ ore before you see an arcane crystal is unlikely, but not unreasonable
here’s a python script to help explain it:
import random as rand
tries = 10000
over100 = 0
for _ in range(0,tries):
counter = 1 #because there will be at least 1 try
while rand.randint(1,100) > 3:
counter += 1
#print(f"tries before arcane node = {counter}");
if counter > 100:
over100+=1
print(f"out of {tries} attempts, {over100} took over 100")
the above script simulates 10000 players all mining thorium nodes (and assuming they’re all Rich nodes) and counts how much ore they would mine before finding an arcane crystal. so somewhere between 4% or 5% of players (1 in 25 or 1 in 20) can expect that result
assuming you get about 50% of your ore from small nodes that number jumps up to about 13% of players.
the point being that yes over 100 ore before seeing a crystal is unlikely it is by no means a proof of anything being broken, especially with only one data point.
absolutely no one mines small thorium lol
I mine small thorium where ever I see it, I’ve gotten 3 blue sapphires from small nodes so far.
That seems stupid. Why wouldnt you mine it?
why wouldn’t you mine small thorium veins ![]()
i swear, it’s like anniversary players are from a different planet
In 2019 classic i went from BWL launch to Naxx launch not seeing one arcane crystal and the majority of my time was spent running Azshara RTV routes. Thousands of thorium mined, not one crystal.
Its pure RNG and sometimes you lose.
I agree something is wrong…their isn’t enough servers
