combat is a fury warrior that can stealth and has all the rogue lockdown cc— thats the biggest difference.

Combat is awesome which is why it is going to be very popular for MoP classic.

This is false, at least when comparing combat to Legion Outlaw. Current outlaw yes all its attacks hit for very little, but that’s more so due to design decisions that followed Legion.
Combat never really had hard hitting abilities, a lot of its damage came from auto attacks. That’s mainly why I loved Legion outlaw so much. Saber slash and Run through hit HARD and there was basically no ramp up time required to burst someone down. Roll the bones RNG was definitely a thing in PvE.
Current outlaw and rogue design in general has made generating combo points so easy that they can’t have hard hitting finishers. And the focus on stealth window mechanics means that all attacks outside stealth windows can’t hit very hard, which on outlaw feels terrible.

Ya I’m wondering what the SS hits so hard comes from. It most def does not. In fact nothing in outlaw screams hard hitting except BTE crits, and even those pale to things like rets hammer or other classes
Combat had hard hitting Kspree and AR was an actually damaging CD and not a maintenance/energy CD. Combat also had Deadly Throw, Rupture and Expose Armor.
Combat’s version of Blade Flurry was also better than current version of Blade Flurry for cleave. This version of Blade Flurry is neutered and boring.

I never played legion outlaw, but I was one of the 1st marshals as a rogue in original classic as a combat rogue
And ss and eviscerate hit hard.
Not 2100 backstabs like dagger, but 1200 to 1500 crits were the norm, and that was very hard hitting in classic.

This is not true. You are, lying at worst or mis-remebering at best.
Sinister Strike in Classic added +68 damage to your weapon’s damage. Some of the best geared Rogues would be rocking around 719 AP.

The above is a damage formula for Sinister Strike with all the talents that improve the damage of SS AND a critical hit
The damage is coming out to 821. Which is a far cry from your numbers.
Prior any mitigation. And obviously buffs. But it is a best case scenario in many ways as I gave the highest weapon damage roll (115) for the formula and was using Windfury as the weapon.
It was NOT the norm to hit 1200. I have no idea where you are getting such numbers.
Even if I add in Blessing of Might (+115 AP) and Battle Shout (+290 AP ) we get

Which is impressive but you had to be literally one of the best gear Rogues possible. Which is not the norm by definition and is not indicative of typical performance. And again: Prior to any mitigation.
Hit a Warrior with 34% armor with that SS and it becomes 741.
And watching videos of people playing Classic numbers around 500 to 600 are what I’m seeing.
Sinister strike and evis hit pretty hard in classic. But every expansion that went by added more power into other damage sources and away from its special attacks. By cataclysm you literally couldn’t play combat in PvP it was so bad. Yes killing spree hit pretty hard but it was also easy to counter. In WoD you could get some decent hits in during red buff but that whole mechanic was unreliable and frustrating to me. Legion outlaw your run through hit like a truck and you could burst someone even without roll the bones buffs. The difference was very noticeable.

My gear is pvp gear, but even questing feels brutal as rogue. Not sure how you guys main this
