I couldn’t help but laugh because the title was the first thought that came into my mind when this happened. The story:
I’ve been a classic only player since it launched back in August and as anyone who has played knows grouping is pretty regular especially when competing for simple kill quests that everyone can share in. After all this time I sort of got an itch to get back into Retail a little and just knock out AP rewards since the grind is going to go so dang fast now.
I run up to a rare WQ and wait for the spawn to happen and another player follows me in and invites me to a group.
And that brings me back to the title. Ok…but why though? It’s…it’s…retail. We don’t need to do this. Have you been playing too much classic? We both can tag it man. IF I WANTED SOCIALIZATION I’D BE PLAYING CLASSIC.
…I accepted the invite just to not feel like a douche but we said nothing to each other.
It’s better to hold hands in life sometimes.

Doesn’t hurt to group.
Sometimes it helps if you want to buff folks or heal.

For people to come in and mindlessly praise Classic while speaking ill of “retail”.

Why not? it’s still fun to get into groups every now and again. Why not say hi or thanks or whatever, it’s just nice

Its much easier to heal you (if I need to) if were grouped.

OP says he doesn’t wanna be a douche, accomplished that anyways.

Well he’s not wrong.
It’s entirely unnecessary.

As is coming to these forums and pretending that having someone want to group with you is a laughable offense.

As was your response, as well as mine, and we can do this pot and kettle thing all day. Or should we not.
Socialization is not Classic only.
This single statement and I don’t want to see you again in Retail. Bye.
Makes it easier to heal / keep track of you.
Especially if its one of the Elite WQ Spawns. Which can be tough to solo depending on your gear.

This person I’m quoting, here, is one of the many reasons why it’s not worth socializing.
That’s what happens. Truth is, people never go out of their way to socialize unless there’s a valuable incentive to do it, even IRL. World quests being too easy and shared tagging do not incentivise grouping up.
Yes, how unfortunate that you would have anyone challenge your point of view. Given that you said “many”, I suspect it doesn’t take much to get you to justify your asocial behavior.
ITT: people taking this thread way more seriously than it was intended and overanalyzing it. Cute.
I’m not sure the point of this thread. No one talks in group invites for WQ lol
