Then dont snub the 10 people who Q for your group when you are waiting for the +220ilvl firemage/ret paladin to Q up and carry you, take a demo lock or fury warrior into your
“1800XP REQ. 1550 2K PUSH, BIG PUMPERS ONLY” group.
lower geared/inexperienced pvp’er looking to play gets denied all night for groups, they then see “FREE VIEWER CARRIES” on the group finder, they bite, they get carried and actually get to play the game, they learn some things and have fun.
Dont blame gearing/the meta for carries going on right now. Blame the collective abuse of the group finder/the flawed LFG itself.
Same goes for the anti-soloQ crowd. Unless you plan on taking people on a whim rather than waiting for the highest geared FoTM spec to q up. Then solo Q would be great for this game.
“solo Q wouldnt work people would just be running around like idiots”
I guess the WoW PvP community is the only group of people that couldnt play the game when matched with random people, literally every single other competitive pvp game/community with rated matchmaking systems are just that much bigger brained than us WoW players, which part of me is inclined to believe after seeing what some of you guys put on the forums.
Blizzard already has matchmaking systems in the game, it would not be hard for them to add an extra layer of matching to make sure only certain specs/classes are placed together into sensible comps, which would include versions of comps for lesser played specs. (eg. Fury/ret edit or fury TSG, outlaw RMP, etc.)
Streamers doing viewer games in 2s is so far from being a problem that its actually omegaLul that anybody talks about this. The chances of even running into them are pretty low, and even still, you can still win the game. I ran into Pika twice during 8.3 as destro rsham, and hes running totally ridiculous crap like rogue DH, and we just won the games for free by not dying.
Not only does this rarely happen, but their comps almost always blow while you (the people complaining) are running some try hard healer dps comp that literally wins for free by clicking your buttons and surviving.
Also, the biggest issue i see at low MMR is a lack of healers. theres tons of dps tryna play the game but no healers to be seen (since they can just be selective of groups and leave low MMR bracket behind). Just my experience. Always waiting around for healers if im just trying to queue some alt, and they rage quit on a single loss since they can just get another group
No I dont forsee long Q times, As the Q drags on, the matchmaking criteria expands its search just like every other game, comp restrictions lax, CR restrictions lax until a match is found, sure you might have some wonky comps, but its better than getting denied all night in the group finder. The biggest hurdle would be having healers for games.
No its not. granted its not CoD hardcore TDM, but we can all stop pretending that arena is only playable by super gigabrain people. how hard is it to CC healer/ (maybe) stun kill target. Honestly.
Well then we return to square one, as WoW PVP 3vs3 arena is heavily decided by comp, more so than any other game I’ve played, and if the system is going to “ease” up on matching together “sensible comps” after an arbitrary amount of time, the problem still exists.
Let’s compare:
League:
4 abilities
1 passive
WoW:
10+ Baseline abilities
10+ Class specific abilities
7 rows of 3 talents each, for a total of 126 possible talent combinations
A choice between 1 of 4 covenents, each granting two abilities
The choice of over 10 legendaries
3 Honor talents
And a myriad of trinkets, each with different effects
Im sure that people have to think real hard about all that when they press their stun and PvE at the kill target.
edit you are missing the point by a mile here, saying the system shouldnt be implemented because people are not accustomed to arena is mind boggling. “Oh they wont be good at it at first, scrap it” is essentially your argument.
The composition argument is centered around the obvious fact that there will be a handful of specs that are so incredibly dominant in solo queue that its not even funny. We’d have to have class specific ladders or something, since all comer specs that work with a variety of comps will just win more games.
Look at arms warrior. Literally can play with every single class / spec in the game it is probably one of the better, if not the best comp for that spec. you’re going to have an above average comp literally every single game…
Now look at aff lock… They essentially have one viable comp with spriest, and are heavily dependent on having that specific comp just to exist. In solo Q, 99% of the time, their comp will be bad in comparison to your average random comp.
Personally, i think blizz could work around this… but i don’t trust them to do it well. If they did give us a solo Q, we’d just see the most flexible specs dominating the ladder and people will just not queue their niche specs at all.
It would be as simple as making it so the off meta comps dont fight meta comps, there is no way that they are going to pit arms/outlaw rogue against RMP. I feel like alot of the arguments against soloQ hinge on people assuming blizzard would implement it incompetently. While there are arguments for that, I feel like thats not actually arguing against soloQ and takes away from the promise that it holds.
I am gunna have to stop you right there with that. Arms is trash with anything that isn’t a healer (or at the very least is basically a healer, looking at you Ret). They may hit like trucks and be the tankiest, but a Warrior is still a warrior and their healthbars only go one way. They need their healer, and with that they ascend into broken, without they have to end the fight in the first 10 seconds or be ended then, possibly less depending on what they are against, and that’s a toss up if they can connect (no dispels makes roots the ultimate piss off).
If double Dps soloque was a thing you would see Rogues, Ferals, Rets, Mages and Monks at the top, they don’t need an ally to do what they do and they can do it no matter what their teammate is. Some of them can even heal as hard as a healer briefly and bail their ally out.
Gona stop you right here. Talking about 3v3 w/ healer implied. 2s would be a complete meme that supports my point even harder, but this time with things like ‘are you a healer?’ / can they even queue, and are you a hyrbrid with infinite resourceless heals like a ret?
I always love to see “glad exp” players at 1600 rating sitting in LFG for 30 minutes thinking they’re going to find other “glad” players stuck at 1600 like them. If you were glad in BfA but you’re stuck at 1600 now, you’re a 1600 player.
I feel sorry for steamers trying to make a living off it. When they turn 65 they wouldn’t have worked for an employer for 10 years so they won’t get social security.
Unless they make enough for retirement, they’ll be a streamer till the day they die.
You do know most big streamers have contracts with either directly twitch or sponsor organizations? They don’t live simply off what they get paid to paypal from donations. They have a base salary from these organizations too, that means theyre contributing to social security like any other normal under contract job.
most streamers use it as a side hustle or they just enjoy it. Alot of them either have sponsors or deals that support them, or they are like me and just use it to make gold in game or are just trying to become part of the WoW content creator community.
Wow is also a game extremely reliant in the comp that you’re playing as well as the communication between partners, unlike any other game that has SoloQ implemented. Even between top tier comps there are some that would have the advantage because they don’t need that much communication. Mongo melee cleaves would run the ladder over and control everything, whereas other comps that need more communication will be awful, and that not even having in mind we’ll prolly still get horrible comps that have 0 synergy together.
SoloQ would literally be a casino where the team that has the better luck in their team composition usually wins. I’m done with casino mechanics being in wow, divine toll is already more than enough. .
