Source?? (I’m kidding, I know you don’t have one)
We used gearscore back in wrath for raiding. I don’t recall anyone needing it for 5-mans, mostly because it got popular later in the expansion and RDF let everyone in. I’m sure it’ll return in a new form. It always does.
I have been playing on a private server since they announced no lfd tool.
Gear score checking is very much the norm on private servers. Obviously for raids. So at least they have lfd for 5mans. With the way gearscore is used on pservers, i can guarantee it will be used with the retail lfd tool that they are going to use.
Gearscore has always been a pserver thing. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be adopted by classic players. It was EVERYWHERE on TBC pservers and I literally haven’t even seen it mentioned once on classic.
I agree its rediculous, but it definitely will be used. Unfortunately with the retail tool they switched to, you will not be able to avoid it.
I do believe that even with lfd tool there was a minimum gear score before you could sign up for heroics so its not totally bad. The bad part will be the rediculous scores that ppl will require for an invite.
I didnt knkw that about tbc. I wouldnt even know how to check gearscore in tbc.
Everyone uses an addon on the private servers. But again, it just never took off on classic.
I’m really excited for the LFG tool!
But again gdkp and pug problems. Looking st the server discords now you can see plenty of guilds still progging and those farming the raids still looking for people to fill the roster (this never ends as people take breaks, leave or move on to another guild). Every problem you have listed is entirely confined to the pug world. If one chooses to play in that world so it’s so easy to not too that’s on them.
Yes. LFM Naxx, link “archive” (lmao). Min ilvl 226 PST.
People already behave this way on Warmane and Ulduar isn’t even out. They’ll do it on Classic. The Classic playerbase isn’t this monument to great players you think it is. They’ll behave just the same given the chance.
Hmm, and what would that be, other than using it as a gauge to judge what people have done in the past, as it seems to be used in Retail?
I mean sure it’s possible that some random player plays better than their low ilvl and RaiderIO, but why should anyone care to spend the time to evaluate each individual’s ability for a PuG 5-man?
It won’t be a big deal for tanks and healers. If you are a DPS, the geared ones will get picked first. Since there are only so many tanks to around, the lesser geared ones won’t go at all. It’ll get progressively worse as the weeks and months go by.
It’s going to be a rich get richer situation.
Blizzard has been encouraging people with any desire to play old-school MMORPG style to stick to guild-only community bubbles & stay away from the the rest of the server community at large for a while now. Looks like they are doubling down on that philosophy with WotLK.
Its funny how people were clueless about Ilvl vs required lvl, Gearscore is just an avg of equiped slots ilvl. Been around since day 1 of vanilla, Inferno robe has an ilvl of 40 but required lvl of 17, which allows lvl35 + chants. It wasnt until the game calculated it automatically that most even knew there was a difference, you can calculate anyones gear score now, Pro lfd is pro gear score because that is the main way the machine can tell if a player qualifies for content. Lfd is a gearscore gatekeeper at its core
Gearscore requirements go up as the game is out longer and the average player gets better gear. Even then, you may never find a group due to spec, class, name, race, or any number of arbitrary reasons that a group leader may choose to decline you over. RDF is a static number that once you have it, you have it and are guaranteed to find a group.
LFG is built to be exclusive, RFD is built to be inclusive.
Nice try but nobody was asking for gearscore in those heroic dungeons so laughably easy they insulted the playerbases’ intelligence. Gearscore was a problem in getting into raids, not dungeons.
See the above.
You really wanna bring fruit bowls into the convo. Pffft lfg is a public access chat channel.
Rdf is a bot that gives priority to tanks and healers.
Warmane content is super buffed up, on top of having the same small community for years and years who have done this content so many times they’ve become the sweatiest of sweats.
