Official Tyr artwork (SPOILER)

Well, well, well. We finally have a face to match the hand.

He looks cool! Since he’s the precursor to the modern paladin, I wonder if he might have Light powers? Sort of similar to how Freya had nature powers and Thorim and Ra-den had lightning.

You know an interesting narrative line would be that arcane power itself is what is white light to a prism. That it can be used to create other forms of magic. Hence, why mages can use fire and ice magic.

It would explain why Freya would be knowledgeable in life magic.

Don’t you mean Holy Magic?

Light Magic is a Cosmic Force unaligned with the Titans while Holy is any Magic considered Divine yet not Arcane(Arcane means “Secret”).

On to an example of Divine Magic that is too Arcane/Secretive to be Holy: Kyrian Death Magic is Arcane Death Magic just as Broker Death Magic is also Arcane Death Magic, Ardenweald Death Magic is Nature Death Magic, Drust & Maldraxxi Death Magics are Necromantic Death Magics and Mawsworn & Revendreth Death Magics are Shadow Death Magics.

Fel Death Magic only appears in the Warcraft Movie. No Divine Death Magic is well known enough to be Holy Death Magic.

Returning to the matter of Tyr:

The Golden Order of Odyn and Tyr are considered Holy Order Magic while the Golden Light of the Naaru is considered Holy Light Magic(speaking of Light Magic the Light Magics tied to the Sun are Nature Light Magic and Fire Light Magic).

As you can guess there are 3 sets of 6/7 Magics: Cosmic Forces(Order, Disorder, Light, Shadow, Life and Death), Magic Categories(Holy, Shadow, Void, Necromantic, Nature, Fel and Arcane) and Elements(Spirit, Decay, Fire, Water, Earth and Air).

According to the Everliving Statuette and Firim’s study of the Pattern there is a 7th in at least 1 of the Sets(the distinction between Shadow & Void in Chronicle makes that obvious).

Of course while the 7th School of Magic is obvious just looking at the Chronicle and traditionally the final(and therefore 7th) Element would be Aether I have no idea what the 7th Cosmic Force would be.

In any case the Magics of all 3 Sets of Magic(Cosmic, Scholarly or Elemental) can be used alone or combined.

Of course unless the Light starts spewing the Corruption of Darksiders 2 we won’t see Shadow Light Magic… Oh yes we see Necromantic Light Magic yet won’t see Shadow Light Magic unless they decide to go all Darksiders 2 Corruption with it!

I’m glad that he looks just like he was described in Dawn of the Aspects. I was worried they’d completely change him.

Edit: well not just like, in the book his mustache resched down to his chest, but thats a minor detail

I do wish he was wielding the holy paladin artifact though instead of a generic hammer. Maybe he will in-game.

He does look pretty cool. Sort of how I would picture him really.

looks like Uther with longer facial hair. Lots of “same face” in WoW art.

They do like their epic beards over there at Blizz.

Given that Arcane is meant to be mathematics and physics. Probably. I think that was the lore for mages. Unlike shamans who actually use fire and water (ice) via elemental magic, Mages use the arcane to do their fire and frost spells.

Maybe. Odyn uses holy magic in his two encounters during Legion. Plus his Val’kyr uses holy magic as well. Compared to the Lich Kings and Helya’s, who both use shadow & death magic.

I imagine he used Arcane powers, as his origins are from the Titans (no idea which one empowered him tho). But it is possible his virtues did grant him some access to blessed powers

He does looks sick however.

whats his mechanics and loot gona be

Even though the Keepers were made by the Titans, I don’t think any of them use the Arcane. Freya uses life magic, Thorim, Ra, Loken and Odyn have used storm / lightning magic. Hodir uses frost magic, Archaedas hardly uses anything since he was designed during Vanilla. Where most bosses just AA’ed you to death. He was also originally written to be a generic Watcher and not part of the Keeper subgroup until Chronicles vol 1. Mimiron doesn’t fight us directly so can’t say anything about him. My guess Tyr used holy magic. Odyn does as well.

The Titan that empowered Tyr was Aggramar.

Aggramar → Tyr
Khaz’goroth → Archaedas
Aman’thul → Odyn & Ra
Eonar → Freya
Norgannon → Mimiron & Loken
Golganneth → Thorim & Hodir
