Wildhammer Dwarf? Yes. Another Magâhar or Fel Orc No.
Dragonmaw Orcs are neither. Like the Orcs of the New Horde, they were once subjected to the blood curse, but are no longer. Unlike their counterparts, however, they now seem to be fueled by draconic energy - perhaps their exposure to the Demon Soul began this process?
In any case, they are both culturally and physically distinct from any playable Orcs. Just as Wildhammer are distinct from the playable Dwarves.
A Bronzebeard in war paint does not a Wildhammer make.
Ah I see, didnât know that about the Dragonmaws.
Yep. In fact, they didnât show up on the AU Draenor anywhere for some reason.
For a reason. Theyâre more just more Orcs. Boring.
I think the developers actually âoverloadedâ on the Dragonmaw with Cata/MoP and wanted to give the other Orcs a chance to shine.
And more Orcs is always a good thing.
Wildhammer would be cool imo they could have druids
Dragonmaw could just be a barbershop addition
Dragonmaw Orcâs donât really have much to distinguish themselves compared to Magâhar or even regular Orcâs, their just regular Orcâs with grey skin. Plus the fact the entire clan allied with Garrosh, so that tells you their initial disposition. Their better set up as a additional barbershop option.
Same with Wildhammer Dwarfs, their just regular Dwarfs with tattooâs, add those in for regular dwarfs and thatâs that.
Plus we did just get Magâhar and the Dark Ironâs, so seeing another Orc and Dwarf pairing isnât likely this expansion.
Dragonmaw are already effectively in the Magâhar orcs group so itâs unlikely well see any more orc allied races. Wildhammer however need to be in.
That would be news to me, given that they were both formerly Fel-infused (thus, not Magâhar âuncorruptedâ by definition), and they werenât included on the alternate Draenor at all.
Although I too would like to see them both added, the problem is the opportunity cost.
In a perfect world blizzard says ok, spends 0 resources, they are added tomorrow. In reality, time spent working on them is time spent not working on other races. And we just got dwarves and orcs, so it would seem kinda redundant at this current time.
No, because we just got two more.
Thatâs kind of the point of Allied Races, from what weâve seen. Make that which should be playable, playable. The only new creation was the Void Elves, and even they were just a flawed attempt to placate those clamouring for High Elves.
Bam! You got me. I thought their skins were included in the Maghar option but they arent. Maghar grey skin is covered in piercings while Dragonmaw have tattoos. My mistake.
Yeah, the Dragonmaw Clan was one of the clans they chose not to include with WoD - probably because of their strongly developed identity in the mainline continuity.
Yes. We need the other races to get their variations before we circle back to Orcs again. And itâs going to be a long time until that happens.
I feel like it would be very easy for Blizzard to turn a switch and allow the following:
Orc: Dragonmaw Skin skintones.
Troll: Farraki, Gurubashi skintones.
Dwarf: Wildhammer Tattoos
Void Elf: High Elf Skintones.
That would probably be the best, and make a lot of players come back. Does it go against what they said? Yes, but going back on your word in cases like this isnât always a bad idea. Especially when you are a player who logs in and find that the game feels so empty sometimes.
Fact is, Warcraft is the only stable subscription based revenue that they have right now. Even if you factor in other games, it still is a sizable chunk of money that they are losing slowly through non-action.
Correct me if Iâm wrong, but donât the Dragonmaw clan only emerge because of the original hordeâs interaction with deathwing and enslavement of alexstraza? So it would make sense they have no place in AU draenor
That was originally correct.
Christie Golden later retconned this, establishing the clan as pre-Dark Portal, called âNelghorâshomash,â or Cry of the Beast. They tamed and flew rylaks, apparently.
Ok but culturally speaking they werenât really Dragonmaw yet, just a precursor tribe that evolved later into Dragonmaw. So basically same outcome I believe
