I’m going to apologize FOR the developers using Twitter/X instead of the “Official” forum…
anyways…
Aggrend:
Yeah I feel ya. The truth is we aren’t saying a lot because we are just heads down working on it, implementing, testing, and iterating. I could post something like “still working on it!” every day but I don’t know how much value that would have without more substance curated to share. Curating said info to present is itself pretty time consuming too, so we don’t want to overindex on the time someone like myself spends on gathering the info for that and making it presentable, vs. other things that need to be done for the release.
Additionally, a huge focus of Phase 4 is adjusting our existing plans based on feedback and lessons learned so that we go into phase 4 as strong as we can. Communicating intent or specifics too early or hastily could be harmful or at least confusing later on, especially if we are midway through a redesign or change to an existing plan based on feedback we’ve recieved.
For now however, the outwards communications focus for the classic side of wow is Cata because things are actively happening on live there. Raids opening today being a big one. SoD is cruising along and it’ll have its turn next to have the spotlight.
We do really appreciate the patience and know that if SoD is your main game, you might be hungry for info and feel frustrated because another verison of classic/modern exists and it’s perceived to be getting more attention from us in terms of who is actually working on it. It doesn’t really work that way though. You can be assured that we are continuing to and never stopped working on SoD and are excited to get to a point where we can talk about it.
Aggrend sharing SoD updates on Twitter is so disrespectful to the whole community. Imagine making posts on some garbage third party website over the official forums or website.
Aggrend is pushing sod to its grave faster then anyone else, by bad decisions and terrible game designs.
Remove aggrend, incursions, fix pvp balance by adjusting the power of rune spells and bring gdkps back. Best way to get your voice heard is unsubbing.
I dont give a flying F about his feelings, he is getting paid to make the game and he is failing horribly, so either leave the company or start talking to your paying customers and doing something.
It’s not his job to talk to us, He does because he can not because he has too. He’s a dev. Not a community manager.
So far the classic team has done some crappy stuff, but at least they take a moment to talk to the community sometimes. Better then the crickets of the other dev teams.
I hate the long drout in P3 as much as anyone else. Doesn’t mean people should dunk on em.
The endless “PLAYERS ARE MEAN TO AGGREND ON THE FORUMS BUT NICE TO HIM ON XTWATTER SO HE DOESNT POST HERE” copes are hilarious.
Unless Aggrend is so unpopular that the amazing mods of unimaginable talent and discernment just inexplicably refuse to moderate the forums whenever Aggrend is involved.
It would be nice for players to tone down the whining and toxicity, but we ARE paying customers. Blizzard employees should have the professionalism to be able to deal with customers. And they own and control these forums; they could invest in moderators.
Honestly, would mean people higher up might have to admit they made bad decisions and 1 thing blizzard as a whole don’t do well or often is admit they were wrong, they just double down on the wrong thing, every, single, time.
They have a long history of it.
Never seen them actually straight up admit,x, y or z content or change was a ‘bad idea’, ‘poorly planned and/or executed’, ‘flat out bad in hindsight’, they’re incapable.
I agree, but then your target is Blizzard Microsoft now the devs. The devs aren’t moderators so its kind of moot for everyone targeting Aggrend. Hes a dev, he writes code and puts stuff in the game with the small resources they have given to them.
They own these forums, but they’re marginally less toxic then reddit, and reddit is super toxic. As someone that follows aggrend on twitter. He actually does get better responses and people are more polite over there.
Wut? Aggrend has admitted that they’ve done mistakes. They admitted that they made gear to powerful and stats too good in P1, which forced them to dumb it down for P2/P3. (However they did drop the ball on making emerald gear too good for no effort. should have been greens not blues.)
Blizzard devs have admitted flying was a mistake day one. Along with RDF/LFR depleting the world experience.
They had a giant meeting about how Shadowlands was just one HUGE mistake in a public forum.
Retail wow devs have a chip on their shoulder though. The ones that made Shadowlands and Dragonflight actively believe they can create better content then the classic devs and the original devs. It’s why they keep trying to shoe horn in their stories and plot points in the game. (IE Sylvanas girl bossing it up, Arthas being given a pathetic end, trying to show any other major characters as dead so they think they were giving closure so people would stop talking about it.)
big the customer is always right energy… No, they don’t have to talk to us. Do you go talk to the cook in a restaurant??? There’s people who literal job at blizzards is to talk to customers and release updates and they’re not devs what so ever. Like have you only worked crap retail jobs??? 90% of people who work for big companies never deal with customers
