Official "Orc Druid" Thread 8.2

Edit: With 8.2 coming up. This would be an excellent time to implement them in. This one class update would add an extra year to my subscription.

It’s about time druids are expanded to more than just the 4 races out of the 18 total. We could even expand the class to Dwarves as well but we’ll focus on the Orcs, here.

Now it very much can happen lore wise. Take for instance, Lo’gosh. Him being one of the main reasons behind the possibility. Not only could they have worked starting in WoD but they could also have worked with the introduction of the Mag’har in BfA.

Lore “before it was drove into Oblivion” the Orcs have embraced Lo’gosh as a hero. Plus the Tauren and Trolls are “was” the Orcs closest allies. The Trolls and Tauren could have easily taught a few orcs the way of the Druid.

Shamans and druids have similarities as well as there differences. If Orcs can draw strength and energy from elements they can do that with nature as well. Personally I feel the elements are a higher power than nature. Perhaps they are one in the same. Which enforces the idea of orc druids.

The argument of “orcs cut down trees” is invalid as all races cut down trees for resources. The orcs responsible for the unnecessary chopping of trees was also corrupted by fell. So limiting druid to the Mag’har is the logical route.

TL;DR: Mag’har Orcs could logically be Druids. They are uncorrupted and closer to nature than the greenies.

Edit: C’mon Blizzard make it happen

can we have blood elf, dwarf and panda druids too?

Dwarves yes and possibly pandas too. It has to makes sense to a certain degree.

Mag’har would definitely be the top contender.

But… Lo’gosh was Alliance. ZING

Orcs, like Humans have traditionally been a more “Rip up the Earth to do whatever we need to do” kind of creature, and so their ability to meld with nature isn’t there. They have no problem with the elements themselves but life isn’t an element, and they disrupt life. Not like Nelfs and Tauren. And we all know the new druids are just added to be neat, technically speaking they shouldn’t exist.

Pandas does make sense though, but they are already bears.

I suppose the only thing we had that could be called a druid for blood elf were those botanists working with kael…

for dwarves though i was thinking wildhammer and the pandaren have their own wild gods (celestials) who they could maybe take druidism from if they wanted?

They have both been used to save the world and both can be destructive.

Except instead of preserving the forests you cut them all down. The night elves may cut down a couple trees but our entire Homeland is built into the forest. The orcs just don’t seem to care about preserving nature.

As I said, the corrupted fel orcs was responsible for that mess.

In Ashenvale, Darkshore, and Stonetalon and Azshara?

The biggest obstacle is that the community gets pretty peeved off if one faction has more or cooler druid options than the other, so Blizz might want to find an Alliance race that is also viable

orcs are exist in stark contrast to nature. They are descendents of the grond, creatures created by aggramar to cull life. It is in their nature to chop down trees. Look at Hellscream and what he did to ashenvale forest.

They are not close to nature, they are close to the elements and shamanism, an entirely different force

Well lore back then meant something. And the Orcs embraced him still.

And in your second point we could have orcs added to be neat as well

First of all I am in favor of this lore over gameplay removed without question. There is no reason our characters can’t teach other races how to use their arts after 1.5 decades of mastery. We have lost more spells than they would even have to learn!

But what do you mean by 4 races? Druid can be four races on horde alone, right? Not sure what they can be on alliance but I know at least 1 in nightelf. I have to assume more as well.

I did mention Dwarves.

“Official”, a tad pretentious there.

But anyhow…Lo’gosh (Goldrinn) is a wolf. I’m not sure how that connects with druidism. Having an animal spirit as part of your lore does not seem to be a direct link to druidism for me. Feels more like shamanism to me.

Yeah you definitely got me there

Well to me a Tauren is a Tauren and a troll is a troll.

Tauren
Troll
Night Elf
Wargen

=4 to me.

Kul Tirans are human

Oh yeah! I’ll edit!

Totally forget they added that.

I haven’t played Kul Tiran quest line. Does it logically make sense that they can be druids?

I think so. Gilneans are based on British humans which in ancient history had druids in the real world. Kul Tirans are gilneans who settles he new lands.

So the story in game does make sense, to be druids?
