Would it be worth having official forums for era servers?
For those that love vanilla, era is a unique place that is quite different from tbc / wotlk / cata. It may be nice to have an official ‘Vanilla’ or ‘Era’ tag.
I worry a tiny bit that some of the later added features - flying, tokens, in-game purchases, promotions, dual spec, etc. are much more likely to seep into era if all the ‘classic’ versions continue to be in a single general discussion forum.
Edit: Or is just the ‘WoW Classic General Discussion’ the official era forum? I am not sure how the progression server folks feel about that.
It’s my understanding that this is the official Era forum. WotLK has its own forum. I think it would be helpful if Blizzard renamed this from WoW Classic General Discussion to WoW Classic Era General DIscussion though, just to maybe avoid some confusion.
For whatever reason Blizzard wanted to not embrace the term Vanilla but I’m wondering if they should just get over that.
Then they should make TBC Era and WotLK Era forums. The former because, come on Blizz, give TBC folks their museum servers! The latter because it feels like Cata is inevitable but a lot of folks really like WotLK too. Just let people play where they want
(But also make it more clear which forums are appropriate to which versions of the game!)
I just think it makes sense for different games to have their own clearly defined forums.
WOD as described so far has no relation to era / vanilla - so sticking the forums together will probably create much more confusion than there already is.
We don’t need a hundred posts an hour - I think a few quality discussions going each day would be far healthier than a huge mess of many posts from people playing totally different game modes
Don’t worry over the next 20 years more and more people will realize that era / vanilla is the best version and there will eventually be hundreds of posts per hour.
