Offhands sheathing on back

Why is this suddenly a thing? My bulky offhand now mostly covers up my back-sheathed sword. I hope they provide an option to Hide this slot, it wrecked several of my transmogs.

What offhands are showing now?

To recreate the bug: (I can’t post image links)

  • Be a MW Monk with a 1H and OH
  • Transmog your offhand to an affected item [Vile Branch of Festerbloom] or [Heartbound Tome] for example.
  • Sheath your weapon

The offhand will appear on your shoulder instead of at your waist, which I believe was what the intended effect should have been. Something with Monks has broken the attach-point, probably due to their dual-wielding nature which causes weapons to sheath on back that would not normally.

Not all offhands are affected, about half seem to be. I cannot see a pattern, stuff from Vanilla to recently is all affected.

I’ve seen all over that offhands (like books) are supposed to sheath on your hip now, but after transmogging my offhand to a book, it’s still nowhere to be found. Was this a confirmed change?

I have a few offhands showing at the hip, but there’s a wand style offhand that isn’t showing.

Also, https://www.wowhead.com/item=53446/spring-gadget is sheathing on the hip for all the tinker transmogs!

I’ve noticed in the wowhead armory a lot of offhands are placed on the back of the shoulders. This seems equally true of fist weapons. Its really jarring to see the black dragon scale claws I have go from my character’s hands to his shoulderpads.

Seems to have been fixed now, I am no longer seeing this on my Monk. My offhand is now attached to my belt.
