Oddities occurred when installing on external SSD

I’m using a M4 base model Mac mini.

Below is the storage that I’m using:
OWC 1TB Express 1M2 Portable NVMe Thunderbolt (USB-C) SSD USB4 Ultra Fast External SSD Drive with Aluminum Heat Sink Enclosure

I should mention I’m VERY new to Mac and I’m still learning a lot.

Now the issue.
After installing wow it appears as if everything was correctly stored onto the storage device, however, somehow I ended up with checks notes about 90Gbs of random “documents” that are showing up as installed and taking up space in my internal storage.

the documents are labeled as:
data.000
data.070
data.057

ect… ALL taking up the exact same size of 1.07GB

for some reason “BlizzardBrowser” and “World of Warcraft” are in the same location as applications taking up 205.5MB and 145.2MB space respectively.

Am I okay to just delete these?

I ran the game and walked around Stormwind with no lag or issues. The game loaded in after clicking Enter World at character selection very fast as well with hardly any wait time.

It sounds like maybe you installed the launcher on the external drive but the game itself on the internal drive. Open the launcher, click on the gear next to the Play button, and select Game Settings. Look at the Install Location - if it’s something like “/Applications/World of Warcraft” then it’s installing the game to your internal drive.

Thank you for posting!

Looking at it right now, Install location is reading as: /volumes/OWC Express 1m2/World of Warcraft

(made a new file for world of warcraft in the external drive)
