[Oct 13] Patch 9.0 - A character with the same name already exists

I have followed all the steps here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/8387
and https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/7549
Which is to reset my user interface. This has been done
I can logon to all my other characters but not this one.
When I try to open a Blizzard support ticket it sends me back to the web page and will not let me open one.

What can I do to log my character on?

Same issue. It’s been like 30 mins and I still can’t login to this character. My other ones work fine.

same here, other toons are fine. and can even /who and see my main online still.
have tried deleting wtf/cashe/ and interface folders as well.

Looks like the majority of us are on Mal’ganis server. Maybe they need to do a server reset?

Hey all,

Thanks for the reports on this. Our WoW and server teams are looking into these issues.

This error may clear itself up after 10 minutes usually, so try logging in to the affected character again after a bit of time. Try logging into a different character in the meantime if you have another one to try.

I decided to log into another character and log off properly for 30 minutes. After waiting, logging back in and trying the affected character I still receive the error.

My character is still stuck after 60 mins. I can even /who and whisper my priest from my other characters. :confused:

I want to add to this that I even went to my character’s location and they aren’t physically in the world. Seems like they are stuck in some limbo zone. Guess they wanted to get to the Shadowlands early :smiley:
