Now that horde and alliance share their group finder pages for keys and raid, I think now is a good time to separate the OCE groups from NA. Considering the biggest reason for people accepting the fact that OCE and NA players had been sharing groups was because alliance “was dead.” Alliance now has plenty of groups. Me being on NA-East joining an OCE group and instantly having anywhere from 200-350 ping shouldn’t be a thing anymore, in my opinion.
Are there any other reasons why this should still be a thing?
Sure thing. Cut us off from the majority of the NA playerbase and give us queues that last an hour or more. And during off peak times don’t even bother.
And watch Oceanic subscriptions bleed away in a matter of weeks.
Are you being serious? We here put up with higher ping for years on a 24/7 basis. Surely you can put up with it on the very rare occasions that you happen to join an Oceanic created party?
The better solution imo is to force OCE players to play on NA servers if there’s an NA player in the group. They can play on their own server if the group is composed solely of OCE players and I’d advocate for the same to be done for SA if/when they decide on actually making one.
“Often”? For me, being placed in a US based group happens 95% of the time at least. If you cannot cope with the rare random Oceanic led group I dont know what to say. If you dont care for any part of a group set up that you join, be it ms or make up or someone’s mog, you can always drop the group and try again.
Which is what I do. I did hear it’s way less impactful for OCE players to play on NA servers though, so I don’t think it’s fair this happens. If the OCE server wants to have the advantage of playing with a higher population, they should play on the NA server (when the group isn’t solely composed of OCE players). You could argue majority, but I think that’s fair.
SA players don’t even have the option and all play on the NA server anyway.
So you are basically saying we should give up the benefits of having our own Oceanic server for all general play in order for you to avoid having the occasional higher latency?
Look, its not going to happen so I’ll just leave this generally bad idea rest. WoW is not just an American game, its a world game and its players, wherever they are based, deserve to be treated equally. We put up with latency when we play with you, you put up with it when you play with us. We cope, you just need to learn to do the same.
No? I clearly stated that if you have a group composed of OCE players, it’s totally fine to play on your own server and even then you could still argue majority. What I’m saying is that if OCE players want the benefit of a higher player pool to choose from, they should be able to tolerate higher ping when not playing with other OCE players.
I’m not even American myself or live in NA for that matter, but this is what I think sounds fair.
I mean, Blizzard cut off sales and microtransactions to the Russian playerbase and historically didn’t stand with Hong Kong, so dunno how you can call it a “world game” or that they treat players everywhere equally.
No, I don’t think I missed the point. My comments to the Ravenborn were basically that WoW is a game that is played outside of the US and therefore there are lots of other people playing it other than people within the US. Which was what I meant by a ‘world’ game.
Im not getting into the politico-social actions of Blizzard, just who plays the game. As it were. I dont want to ostracize anyone.
Why is that I keep seeing Ostrich when that word is used… Must be a bird issue on my part. And its Vegemite you uneducated-non Australian, you!
That might get me into trouble with the mods. They apparently dont like us using norty words here.
Ah well, New Zealand is a law unto itself. They were offered the option to be part of our venerable nation and said, na, get lost, or words to that effect. Possibly a wise choice.
