I’m trying to unlock the Unholy hidden artifact appearance Bonereaper’s Hook. I’ve done it correctly as far as I know, over 60 times, and have gotten nothing. I read comments on wowhead as recently as 8.2.5 that it was still obtainable through the suggested methods, but a lot of the comments say they got the journal relatively quickly. Does anyone know if it’s glitched in 8.3? And before you ask, yes i used the suggested command that tells you whether or not you’ve completed the Special Army of the Dead quest, and I have not.
There is a work around for the other colors though it requires getting one of the other hidden artifact weapons and then doing the other skin colors like pvp, world quests or legion dungeons with a hidden artifact skin.
It took me a while just sitting at a dummy trying to get it in legion. Some people it took a really long time, some it happened to pretty quickly.
I dont know if its glitched in 8.3, but some people did it well over 100 times before they got theirs.
Guess the people who had to try 100 times didn’t post about it! I’ll keep trying. But if anyone knows of issues getting it in BfA don’t hesitate to reply!
I didn’t get the item however I could still go into icc and get down there to get it

Some people reported that they were able to use a command that checks if you’ve completed the quest because it’s easy to miss, but I used that command and it came back false. I can’t find the command now because wowhead is down, I’ll try again though.

I thought there was something you could /run in a text form that would come up yes or no.
I didn’t realise I had got back in the day but found out that I had already got it lol

Kinda late here but I can confirm that it’s still obtainable and not glitched. I got it two days ago using the proving grounds reset method.
Since it’s rng you can get totally boned. It only took me about two hours of leisurely resetting (there were frequent interruptions, maybe 90m of that was active farming with minimized wasted gcds) but one of the guide videos on youtube mentioned he was it at for 8 hours.
Only thing you can do is put something good on tv and keep at it.

I got it in Legion, but I recall taking nearly 2 hours when I did it.
Supposedly it can drop anytime you use Army of the Dead and Apocalypse. I saw mine on the ground in Nazjatar doing a world quest last patch.
I used my abom on a training dummy in boralus and it spawned.

I know this is over a month old now, but I stopped trying for a while and came back to it. I didn’t keep count perfectly, but if i’m estimating correctly, it is not RNG, the special ghoul appears after summoning 2000 ghouls with Army of the Dead and Apocalypse.
Edit: I read the “dummies” guide on wowhead and it says I’m wrong about the 2000 ghouls thing, but I gotta say it was suspiciously close!!

The book dropped the other day on my alt dk, still possible in 8.3, rng is rng…
Is this even obtainable as of August 3rd? I’ve been at this for 2 hours and nothing. I knew my rng was bad but it can’t be THIS bad can it?
Yes it is. There is no set number you have to summon either. Some people got it on the first few uses, some much much later. I got mine in like 15 minutes, wasnt now, but in legion.
I just got mine yesterday. On a hunch, I decided to check the trapdoor in ICC on the off chance I had summoned the orc mob during combat and just hadn’t realized it in the heat of the moment.
Sure enough, I could access it and got my mog soon after. So that’s my advice, just go to ICC and give it a check even if you don’t think you’ve summoned the prerequisite mob yet, like me you might have done it and just not realized it.
If you’re wrong, it’s back to the same old grind. But if you’re right, you’ll have saved yourself days if not weeks of wasted time. In my opinion, you might as well make sure.
