Last night my friend and I were doing the Obsidian citadel. We picked up quests by Sabellian and started attacking the mobs nearby. There was a pair down the stairs that are right behind the dragon fighting in front of Sabellian.
The first guy we killed, no real problem. The second guy – we got him down to 20% health and then nothing we did after that caused damage. We found this happened a few other mobs as well, which ended up killing us.
It was late, I was tired, so I may have missed something somewhere that tied the fails together.
Anyone know what could have caused this? What was I missing/doing wrong or is this some weird bug?
yeah - deathless rage. it’s used by the scaleripper mobs when they drop to a certain %.
“Increase attack speed by 125%, increase movement speed by 30%, and reduce damage taken by 100%. Autoattacks refresh the duration.”
you need to kite or cc them if you don’t have an enrage dispel otherwise they WILL slice, dice, julienne and then blend you and drink you in a smoothie.

Thank you! That explains my frustration. Now I know.
I cannot believe they designed mobs like this.
Who am I kidding? It’s Blizzard.
There are ways to remove the buff you know. Think you can interrupt it, but I know it can be removed, so just learn to use some of your classes utility.

I’ll definitely look to see if the Evoker has anything that might work.
I will admit I’ve not done that well with the class. My Preservation Evoker survives things that Destro one just dies repeatedly on, it’s quite annoying to me that I’m just not learning the play effectively.
At least I’m getting used to dying.
Now if I could only figure out how to see what the mob is casting (other than the too-tiny to see or read cast bar), I might actually get a handle on interrupts.
Oppressing Roar with the Overawe talent disprls enrage effects like this. You can find it towards the bottom of the Evoker class tree.

Fearing the mob is another way to get around that buff. Since the mob can’t be damaged, you can’t break the fear, and the buff will expire on its own.
Better to just not let it cast that in the first place. Most classes have some form of cc that can stop it.

Thank you very much! I’ll look at my tree and ensure I have that.
