Obsidian Blessing

Honest question….are wow devs so insistent on rushing us to the endgame that we cannot die while leveling a new character now?

As a solo player that enjoys the journey and the “danger around every corner” of the old wow, I feel like I’m relegated to playing classic if I want some feeling of immersion or risk.

Thoughts?

I don’t know what obsidian blessing is.

But if you want classic, go play classic. Retail is about being at max level. Sub max exists to sell boosts.

You enjoy, as you put it, the old wow. Go play the old wow. Don’t try to force yourself to enjoy the new wow. It works for you or it doesn’t.

Play a mage. You’ll die plenty.

TL;DR
Leveling characters now receive buffs to make you unkillable.

It is weird. But yes, if you want hard leveling play classic.

huh. Actually unkillable?

That sounds really abusable if you twink a character.

Wow hasn’t been that way since literally TBC. That’s the last time the world was even remotely dangerous.

I’ve leveled so many alts I’ve lost count and no, if I could cut out the leveling process (without spending real money) I absolutely would. I mean not for everybody because a lot still enjoy it.

Lmao.

That’s completely ridiculous. I couldn’t believe it, but it’s legitimate - I looked it up.

How does this make for a better new player experience? You can’t lose the game? Is this seriously what players want nowadays?

hardcore classic exists for people that want meaningful dangerous leveling.

You have to be a special kind of crazy to somehow die while leveling though. Even if the buff wasn’t there. You wouldn’t be dying. Leveled a Ret paladin from 1 to 80 and had her item level 600 in about 24ish in game hours.

I never understand the fascination with spending long periods of time without core parts of your character’s abilities.
