I am not the best WoW player IE I am target audience for OBR
This is in the context of level 40-79 characters.
Simply put OBR outperforms manual(standard?) play no matter how hard you try, particularly on ranged casters (doubly so on Destro lock). If you tab + One Button spam while repositioning you are able to gain advantage from a few huge factors. One, snap decision making between AoE and ST spell.
I’ve noticed if I just focus on moving, positioning and spam OBR my DPS raises by a significant amount because at this point the +25% GCD doesn’t matter. Low level dungeons are quick, especially with trash, but even bosses, so sustained manual play is not ideal when OBR is an option.
So this leads me to ask? Why should I play and learn my rotations in these cases if I am gimping myself and my random dungeon party?
Why is the OBR DPS reduction penalty so low, especially for certain specs?
This isn’t accessibility at this point. It’s messing with my learning curve.
No my point is with OBR it makes positioning + casting far easier, because that’s just how the game functions. If I don’t have to think of my next best spell whilst thinking where I should be, I am playing more optimized.
So with OBR I can simply focus on my positioning and know I am probably getting an ideal spell the moment I click it and spam it.
Yeah I don’t doubt there are specs where OBR is truly far worse. But in my experience with my destro lock as of late… It’s actually really hard to beat OBR, especially in the quick/lowhp dungeons.
Literally my entire Boomie levelling experience. The place was melted by DK, DH, or Pally (Or lvl 12 twink) while my fat chicken tush just huffed and puffed trying to stay with the group.
yeah my dps sucks with 1br. not only leveling my spriest, i did a 2m target dummy (small sample i know) but i repeated it 5 times and then did it again with 1br… this is on a mm hunter. it did 7m overall vs 11m without it so i dont think its that good at all. i did a priory 13 after without it and was able to parse an 85 in damage. i want to run it again with 1br to see what the number looks like but im kinda scared to do it in a strait pug so i chickened out last second lmao. but i think its definitely meant for a more relaxed play.
that being said, why the hell can i not out dps anyone on my spriest
If you are good at knowing your rotation and what buttons to press, and able to press them quickly in combat; then using neither the OBR nor the rotation helper is your best choice.
If you are good at pressing buttons fast, but get confused in the middle of combat on which buttons to press; then using the rotation helper but not OBR is your best choice.
If you are slow at pressing different buttons and don’t know your rotation or what to press; then spamming OBR is your best choice.
How many threads are you going to make on this topic of “OMG one button is doing too well,” while not recognizing that it’s because of your own performance?
For the most part, I know what to cast on my destro lock. The tiny bit of brain lag I have is the problem. OBR removes the brain lag.
Granted, OBR definitely doesn’t outperform me on certain specs and we will see once my Destro lock is level 80 and geared if OBR is a huge downgrade. But right now I’m telling you how it is for me, personally.
