HUGE problem.
Cannot be ignored.
HUGE problem.
Cannot be ignored.
Well since its been ignored for about 15 years I think a few more wont hurt.
Pretty Vanilla like
Yup. Working as intended. Sort of. I think. There’s a couple hills in the cave of the orc start zone that wouldn’t let me shoot thru. I thought i used to shoot through. Also a couple of the staglamite(not a geologist or spelunker but the rocks hanging down in the cave. Might be the other kind.) wouldn’t allow me to shoot through them.
Feels like they “fixed” or forgot to “unfix” some spots.
My memory can’t be completely trusted though. Lol.
Except in the 1.12 Client, these objects and terrain materials block line of sight.
If the stumps in WSG are broken too I swear to god I won’t be playing WoW classic.
Simple way to remember is a woman has feeding parts for her young that are called ti… they hang like Stalactites.
You’re trying to tell me that objects and terrain materials in the “new and improved” client are inferior to the materials that shipped in 2004, because they can’t make them block line of sight?
Have I gone COMPLETELY insane?
It’s A TREE. You can’t SHOOT through TREES.
YOU NEVER COULD.
Next patch i’m sure we’ll be able to just cast chaos bolt through pillars in arena at this rate.
That would depend on the thickness of the tree and the firearm/round used.
Magic is magic. So yea frostbolts n stuff could get a pass. Lol.
I agree that shouldn’t happen in principle but i also think they should have made our characters solid in the game too. Melee being able to setup human walls would have made an interesting dynamic in wpvp.
I have always liked that about UO. It makes for real choke points.
Some 300 types of situations. Lol. It is what it is/was though. /shrug
Listen, man. I’m not here to troll about physics as they pertain to the real world.
I’m here to talk about how the environment is behaving differently than it did in Vanilla WoW, which is what we’re all here to play.
You’re supposed to be able to line-of-sight spells that players and NPCs are casting at you – it’s an integral part of the game, and if it isn’t working correctly, it needs to be addressed.
I’m expressing a legitimate and serious concern less than a month out from the official launch date, and I’d appreciate it if you understood that and took it seriously.
It’s inconsistent. Same as it was. Places you can shoot through and places you can’t. Also if you don’t want to discuss physics why are you worried about magically shooting through walls in a magic filled world?
It’s the force Luke. Use the force Luke.
You never played classic then.
You could cast spells through hills and trees. IT was even a strategy utilized in AV by casters.
The no changes crowd doesn’t want these kind of Quality of Life Improvements. I generally agree with you, it shouldn’t be a thing. But for now the vocal minority has gotten their way with the development process. It wont be the case after launch because the vocal majority is going to complain more. And I suspect we will see quality of life changes and some tweaking here and there on balance issues later on.
May I present to you: Line of Sight in Vanilla
And its’ inbred step cousin: Line of Sight in WoW: Classic
IT’S THE SAME TREE
Looks like a private server in that first video
It’s a private server that runs on the patch 1.12.1 client.
That tree object has line of sight properties in the Vanilla client – it doesn’t have line of sight properties in the WoW: Classic client.
And that’s been similarly true of most objects found in the game.
I see someone’s gotten too used to a certain pserver’s custom LoS changes. That’s not how it was in Vanilla.
If anyone’s curious, that server (and that server alone, which isn’t the biggest vanilla pserver either) has changed LoS so that every single tree/rock/you-name-it blocks LoS. Obviously not vanilla-like.
You must be coming from K3 then. That pserver had some janky LoS issues throughout. Everything blocked LoS on K3.
Alright dude. #nochanges.
Have fun getting pyro’d through trees in STV while you’re trying to fight mobs.
Which never happened in vanilla.
Cry more.
Janky LoS issues. lol.
I guess twinstar’s got better developers than Blizzard if you want to try to tell me that “objects aren’t client side data.”
According to your experience on a pserver with custom changes. Sure buddy.
