Naw I’m paid to give the objective truth.

These ratings are absolutely unhinged

Objective review… everything after WotLK has slowly gotten worse and worse.

Objectively false.

Who’s paying you? probably less than I’m getting paid therefor I am more objective.

Your honor, I would like to plead the 5th, oh no not for me, no I meant OP.

You are, I need my expensive lawyer fees because law school took MOOLA.

I am less subjective!

Classic/TBC/Wrath: overrated

Cataclysm: Slightly underrated

Shadowlands: correct for the first half, it got substantially better in the 2nd half of the expansion (9.0-9.1: 1.5, 9.1.5->9.2: ~6.5)

Here’s an objective, community-based assessment of each World of Warcraft expansion, ordered from Classic to Dragonflight, rated on a scale of 1 to 10 based on general public opinion, reviews, and community feedback:

1. World of Warcraft Classic (2019)

Rating: 8/10

  • Celebrated for capturing the original experience, appealing to nostalgic players. Some found it lacking later expansion content but appreciated the authentic feel.

2. The Burning Crusade (2007)

Rating: 9/10

  • Highly praised for its innovation, new zones, dungeons, and the introduction of flying mounts. Considered a fan favorite.

3. Wrath of the Lich King (2008)

Rating: 10/10

  • Often regarded as the best expansion, praised for its compelling story, raid content, and game mechanics.

4. Cataclysm (2010)

Rating: 7/10

  • Noted for significant world redesigns and increased difficulty but criticized for removing some of the classic feel and alienating long-term players.

5. Mists of Pandaria (2012)

Rating: 7/10

  • Appreciated for its storytelling, new classes, and zones but received some criticism for perceived tonal shifts and gameplay changes.

6. Warlords of Draenor (2014)

Rating: 6.5/10

  • Mixed reviews; praised for world design but criticized for lack of endgame content and repetition.

7. Legion (2016)

Rating: 8.5/10

  • Highly regarded for its story arc, class improvements, and engaging content, considered one of the stronger expansions.

8. Battle for Azeroth (2018)

Rating: 6.5/10

  • Controversial; praised for world design and faction conflict but criticized for story pacing, reputation grind, and lack of innovation.

9. Shadowlands (2020)

Rating: 7.5/10

  • Generally well-received; praised for its story, zones, and new features but criticized for repetitive endgame content.

10. Dragonflight (2022)

Rating: 7/10 (initial impressions)

  • Positive early feedback for dragon riding mechanics and zones, though still early for comprehensive consensus.

Subjective WoW ratings, from someone who started in 2016:

Classic (not Vanilla): 8/10. I was hesitant about it, but honestly it was extremely fun to level on a PvP server. Endgame felt fine but barebones, overall I’d say it holds up if you like PvP.

Burning Crusade Classic: 9/10. In my opinion, TBC does everything that Classic does better. From raid content to the open world PvP, TBC is an absolute banger.

Wotlk Classic: ??/10 Life got busy & quit MMOs for a while
Cata Classic: ??/10
MoP Classic:??/10
WoD:??/10 Only played during legion PrePatch.

Legion: 9/10 While I do have a bias towards legion, as it was my first xpac, in hindsight and after hearing the perspectives of others, it’s really good as far as modern WoW goes. I’m willing to overlook the AP grind & Legendary RNG because of the content around it. Introduced Allied Races, and had some of my favorite raid bosses to this day.

BFA: 8/10. I get this isn’t a popular opinion, but once you were set up, BFA was a blast. Glimmerdin & Catweaving Resto Druid are still my two favorite healing specs of all time. Infinite Eyebeam Havoc, & Infinite Metamorphosis Vengeance were also very funny. I feel like we haven’t “broke the game” as hard as this ever since.

Shadowlands: 5/10. I quit during this xpac to focus on FFXIV full time. I still played every story patch, and usually did every tier on LFR at least once just to see it. Probably the most “alright” WoW experience we’ve had.

Dragonflight: ??/10 I was still sucked into XIV at this time. I did do the leveling campaign on a few chars, but overall skipped out on most of it, so giving it a rating would be disingenuous.

TWW: 7/10. Admittedly, I started this patch. The leveling campaign was cool, Hero talents are a welcome addition, and MFO is a pretty fun raid tier so far. I’m willing to give it at least a “was fun while it lasted.”

Im kinda ok with this list aside from wrath, maybe a 7/10, wrath is the prime example of raid or die

You see that would be true, if I weren’t being paid to presentthe objective truth.
