Does anyone have any tips and trinkets for sneaking in a death strike when he picks you up and does the grip? Sometimes I can hit him with a death strike and others I can not. I’d love to be able to pool runic power to just live that part of the first but I can’t reliably hit him.
I’d love for blizzard to just increase his hit boss but…that’s unlikely.
I would think this part would also fall on the healer to keep you up. My DK tank friend always says “Keep me alive” when this part happens.
Uh, I haven’t experienced this but imagine it might have something to do with the direction you’re facing when he grabs you? I don’t know.
Also using AMS prior to being grabbed negates the damage in its entirety.

My current theory is that your proximity to the boss when he grips you is what matters.
I normally stand at max melee range. I’m going to test it later to see.
From personal experience, the trick is to not move the camera after the grip. Moving the camera seems to be weird with how wide the movement is and sometimes you end up facing the wrong direction. Without touching the camera I’ve just been heart striking the beginning and death striking when hp is low.
I had this problem. In order to fix it you need to change the setting with the proximity targeting with your actions. Once I turned this off it was fixed.
I was actually thinking about making a target macro specifically for this boss.
