the mind gates dont teleport you to the psychus phase
Can confirm. The Mind Gate animation plays, but my character is not swapped into the Psychus realm and N’zoth remains unkillable.

You CAN beat him but wow is it ever a long fight if you don’t have strong AE.
Psychus is there but you can’t see him. He’ll still get hit by AE stuff. Let me tell you how much fun that is as a prot warrior. 
I got disconnected in the middle of that phase and he was visible when I reconnected.
Went invisible again and after I finally killed him, same issue with Nzoth. Could hit him with thunderclap and revenge but not see him.
I don’t even want to guess how long that took me.
