Ny'alotha Raid - Maut

I don’t where to ask this question.

I have been in the Ny’alotha Raid - Maut fight several times (Normal and Heroic), and my 'toon (WW Monk) dies at least once nearly every run during Stygian Annihilation even though I was in the Devour Abyss circle during the burst damage. Is it possible my character is bugged, or might I be doing something wrong?

TIA.

Get in earlier and more towards the center of the circle. The ticking damage from the circle is almost unnoticeable - even on mythic.

@Hateorade
I have been doing exactly what you suggested.

Is it possible to get into the circle too early?

The ticking damage stacks every 2 seconds you stay in it. If you’re in for more than 3-4 ticks you could easily die to the circle itself. They also explode and deal a larger amount of damage if you are in one when the shield phase starts.

Go in when the cast is about 75% off. If you’re snared you’ll have to go even earlier. I’ve done the fight 5 or so times and aside from dying the 1st time to it, have yet to die from it again.

Sounds like a lag problem, what ^ they said: go in earlier

When my guild first got to maut we were entering at the last second and had people dying inside the pools. You need to get 1 tick off the dot to be immune so we have everyone go on about 1-2 seconds before the cast goes off

You don’t have to"take damage" from the circle to be immune to the annihilation - getting in at the split second will be fine. The damage from the circle itself ramps extremely quickly and can outright kill you for standing in as little as 2-3 seconds. Check the damage amounts from death recaps to see what went wrong.

Thank you for your replies and advice. Based on what you guys are saying, I think that I have gotten into the circle both too early and too late. I need to work on my timing.

Just to add to the solid advice already said ITT, better to be in a second early vs a second too late. Even a few seconds early wont kill you, but a fraction of a second late and well…you know

Get in it earlier, the game sometimes takes a bit to register that you’re in the zone, especially if you have higher latency. Get in with 1.5-2s remaining.
