I see what you did there.
Even ignoring how ridiculous it looks when we killed Deathwing, at least he had an appropriate amount of gravitas.
We spent the entirety of Cataclysm weakening him and sabotaging his minions. Itās pretty much explicitly shown early on, heās not a threat we can take head on.
And when we do kill him? It requires the effort of every Dragonflight and a supercharged Thrall, and even then it strips the Dragonflights of their power.
Plus, like you said, a significant part of the Old Gods storyline was that they were so deeply ingrained into Azeroth that removing them without killing the planet was practically impossible.
Thatās why when we beat them as adventurers, we didnāt ākillā them, we basically just beat them back into dormancy.
Which is also why the Titans didnāt simply smoosh them like a bug. They did that to Yāshaarj and it was devastating for the planet, and Pandaria still feels the effects of his death, even thousands of years later.
Until suddenly it didnāt matter and it was retconned into us actually killing Yogg and Cāthun and making the point of imprisoning the Old Gods completely non-existent.
I initially didnāt pay much attention to the Argus defeat cinematic and was so confused about how it ended with a gigantic sword in Silithis.
Sargeras was hyped to be the ultimate bad guy for so long and then he was just gone, instantly.
Thanks for reminding me of the depression of the orcs as well. I knew I was missing another main factor they shoehorned in for this exp.
As for the final cinematic there is a small hope there might be something decent after the mythic kill?
Peopleās reaction when the ending video is trash and cements the idea this expansion was a complete failure.
Fitting.
I donāt think so. They always datamine the cinematicsā existence even if itās encrypted. If we had one more cinematic left wowhead would be kicking up a fuss about it right now.
It was rushed completely to wrap up the story - but if this is the route theyāve taken Iād hate to see how Shadowlands goes. I really wanted Nāzoth to have proper justice done for all the years people waited.
I wouldnāt hold your breath hoping for a canon Mythic ending.
Itād be like what they did for Warfronts, where weāll get a throwaway line in an interview where theyāll be like āactually X happened to Nāzothā, but it wonāt ever matter because weāll never see him again.
Kinda like how the cinematic shows Archimonde dying in Tanaan, but since the Mythic fight is apparently canon, he died in the Twisting Nether, so heās dead for realzies.
Orcs sad!
Orcs sad!
Orcs feeling the sad!
Getting overpowered by the main villain only to have some titan or titan thing intervene and save the day isnāt similar to you?
Although, come to think of it, didnāt it happen in Wrath too? With Tirion? Seems to happen a lot.
I guess we arenāt the champions after all.
He is dead until he isnāt.
Archimonde can totally come back if they want to. There are at least 2 ways to justify it:
1 - The defeat cinematic happens at Tanaan, so even though we fought him in the Nether, he came back to send Gulādan to Azeroth and so he died on Draenor, so he didnāt die in the Nether.
2 - Even if we consider that he died in the Nether because thatās where he got his mortal wounds, he died long before Argus the Unmaker, and Argus had the power to bring back even Demons killed in the Nether.
I see people are now on this as the thing they are pretending to be upset about today. Yawn. As for the story, if you have been paying attention AT ALL to the 8.3 quests, the whole point is to attempt to use the Forge of Origination, capable of wiping out all life on the planet, and refocusing it directly on Nāzoth. If you havenāt been paying attention since Cata, thatās on you.
Well Illidan was redeemed after all the insane crap he pulledā¦
Sheās a very popular char and Ionās favourite. Sheās not dying anytime soon.
Heck, Argus could have been its own expansion.
Sargerasā downfall felt rushed.
So at the end of the day, we only actually beat 1/4 main Raid bosses this expansion.
Gāhuun dies.
Jaina gets away.
Azshara gets away.
Nāzoth beats us and MOTHER has to save the day.
Champions we are not.
Anyone else feel like this was supposed to be the faction conflict but because of the hate for the dark lady they just yeeted nzoth and azshara in there?..
I canāt get on board with it looking like they just donāt care about BFA any more and expect us to hang on for who knows how many months until Shadowlands. Or come back to it.
Itās been a long and entertaining road and Iām grateful for having a game I wanted to invest so much time in, but maybe itās time to part ways. If these 8.3 systems and convoluted/incomplete storylines (or ones that are supposed to play out over 5 years and/or have source material outside the gameā¦) are anything like whatās going to be the daily goings-on with Shadowlands, Iāll have to pass.
I doubt it. I think during development they realized BfA sucks, but they didnāt want it to be another WoD so they just released everything as is.
Jokes on them, because it became another WoD anyway.
They probably did cut out a zone from 8.3 though. And they did cut out the later warfronts actually.
Which is stupid, because ādemons only die in the netherā was a retcon to justify the retcon that theres only one Legion within the multiverse and explain the fact that Archimode still existed even after he got exploded at Hyjal.
Though I still want to know what happened to all the AU Archimondeās and Kilājaedenās, since AU Velens still exist.
No, it wasnāt.
It was stated in tBC during the Ogriāla quests.
āThe problem with demons is that, once killed, they come right back in new bodies!ā
Look, no one ever said the people coming up with this were WRITERS or anything.
ā¦ wait, thatās their job title?
Oh, jeez.
This is awkward.
