Sometimes when I think about this it makes me really angry. So many mmos died because of wow and still it is on top. I don’t understand why people still play that 18 year old outdated game. Wow is the reason why nowadays major game companies are scared to make new mmos. Seriously something needs to give. How many more years will blizzard keep bullying the mmorpg genre with wow?
I wanted NW to be fun, I really did. I had a blast for the first like 20 minutes or so. And then, yeah, waded into a stream and sank to the bottom like some 1850s ironclad diving suit lol, and just knew it was going to get worse from there. And boy was I right.
Pretty sure the reason why there aren’t a lot of new MMOs coming out anymore is because it’s difficult to get the funding for them. The MMO market it to volatile for investors to bankroll.
I disagree completely. So many MMO’s failed in the wake of WoW’s success because almost ALL of them repeated the same mistake and released a game that was unpolished and lacked the ability to compete with WoW’s amount of content simultaneously. It’s the kiss of death.
Why play a buggy game with less content than what’s being knocked off with content and a respectable degree of polish
I mean I’m sad that studios are hesitant to make MMOs because they are intimidated by the prospect of trying to compete with wow, but that just says a lot about how this game has managed to gain and retain a loyal player base.
Actually. That is pretty hilarious. Yes, Blizzard and WoW deserves criticism and scrutiny. Though, the elements of NW and how it handled everything since launch is pure shenanigans.
NW devs bullied Crowfall Devs.
NW devs tried to initiate an in game strike in GW2.
NW devs trolling Warframe Threads and Posts on Steam.
NW devs compared Yoshi P of FFXIV to Albert Fish.
Now, NW blaming WoW for their own faults.
Edit; Shocked to see NW hasn’t gone after Sea of Thieves and PSO2NGS yet… though, still some time left in the year and always next year.
Even Lazy Peon is back playing WoW, and he has made an entire career out of playing and reviewing every other MMO, and has dumped on WoW a lot over the years. Fact is, there are only a few MMO products that are close to the quality, and they are good competitors to WoW, but in general the MMO era is over.
So you took one person’s opinion with the fallious thinking that if something old, it must be bad (ironic since New World is a year old at this point, is it not?) and conflate that to everybody who is a NW player.
I don’t understand why people still play that 18 year old outdated game.
Something tells me, that person would hate FF14, Everquest, and pretty much all the other popular and still on going MMO’s. But knowing the community, their just only biased against WoW and never be consistent even with that stupid opinion…
Well what I mean by that is, the game does have a lot of smooth edges to it. It may have issues, but it’s also got a lot of functionality in there as well. When you have to compete with that launching a buggy and low content game will frustrate players back to where they know their devil.
I said respectable level because I didn’t want my comment to appear as if I am completely ignoring that WoW isn’t perfect.
