NVM keep range as is

Edit: Nvm chronowarden is where its at, I have the constant hover gameplay. blizz off da chain with all this hover constant gameplay, it actually feels amazing.

Close as clutchmates doesn’t affect raid, so why would this make sense brother?

If anything, Aug is buffed for raid because DPS isn’t as much of a meme with the changes.

Brother… we are dead now in the mythic plus brother, we are dead in the mytic plus… We live in the raids now brother, we live in the raids… Let us lay a pillow in our new home to rest brother.

Literally not true, lol.

Aug also doesn’t need more range in raid to do its job well.

I’ll sign off on range for pres in raid, though.

Just give us all 40 yards, it still makes no sense and no other class has this restriction. Tired of fighting a DH in PvP when they fly up and I just literally can’t touch them for 50% of the duration because they fly higher than I can shoot a laser beam or throw fire at them meanwhile a mage can throw a fireball further for no other reason than “just cause”.

went on my priest the other day and found out i have even more range than the 40 yds everyone has. its hilarious my devoker has 25 yds with the excuse hovers mobility makes up for it. as if being able to move and cast is suppose to make up for being the only range that has to stand in melee for our range. what good is mobility when i have to stand there and wait or run to the boss while every other ranged dps in the game is behind me casting. its even worse for pres. i dont invite ranged dps to my keys if im healing. i dont have the range and shouldnt have to work harder than every other healer to keep everyone alive since everyones out in bfe. i just heal full melee groups and it goes great

Lets face it, they made evoker for pve.
They never thought people would play it pvp when they set it up to 25y

It’s not “just cause.” Hover comparatively is one of the strongest abilities in the game, and is what’s meant to help offset this.

Shamans have a 2 minute CD (1.5 maybe?) that is the same thing without the dash and move speed.

If they give evokers 40 yds, hovers cast-while-moving aspect would need to go. And maybe yall are fine with that, but can’t have both.

Most classes don’t hard cast anyways unless you are something like spriest. And hover is an amazing ability, but it can still just be caught up to by most melee (with cd ofc) or just los’d, or out ranged.

Not sure about this, would have to test it but almost everything an evoker casts is hard cast and is easily countered. There’s a reason our main defensive gives us free casting.

Hover is not a defensive (will become one slightly once certain hero talents are in the mix), and it would absolutely need to be nerfed if we got increased range.

And this should go without saying at this point, but Blizzard does not make large-scale balancing decisions based on pvp. They haven’t in well over 15 years. They basically view it as a mini-game at this point.

I don’t know that I would consider hover to be a defensive, it’s more of a mobility utility that helps offset their lack of range.

But evokers are also a lot chonkier (and more mobile) than many of the other casters. With their bonus armor, two charge bark skin, renewing flame or whatever that 1 min defensive is called where they heal the damage they take, etc.

I am totally willing to have the 40 yard discussion, I mained pres for most of DF in high keys and I totally get the moments of frustration the even 30 yard range brought, but yeah hover is a house of an ability.

I would be on board with them letting us cast empower spells during it. I feel like those being absent is going to become archaic very quickly.

I was referring to Obsidian Scales.

Even in PvE it still doesn’t make sense.

I would also be satisfied with this too, either works for me.

What does scales have to do with free casting? Or is this a pvp talent?

For the DPS specs it absolutely does. We’ve performed well in pve all expansion and there’s plenty of data to support that.

Yes it makes it so you can’t be kicked so you get to free cast.

Ok, but what does having the same range as a mage do to affect our dps? From what I’m getting from your post you would be fine with other casters having a shorter range because they are top dps?

This has nothing to do with the argument, but to answer your question an arbitrary 40% buff to put range outright would be a direct DPS buff/require a strong mobility nerf in order to offset. This is why I’ve suggested a choice node between hover and 40 yd range for people that want it.

We have a dps kit designed around 25 yd range, whether people like to admit it or not.

And like it or not, people that have learned to leverage that toolkit well don’t struggle with the range (as DPS).

It seems like you’re just set in stone about this, but it’s time for the augs to rise!

Give me hover as a toggle and I’ll be happy. =)

I love the class, hate the range and that I have to be near melee.

I’m down for no hover in exchange for 40 yards, but how would fire breath work

Aug complaining about range and being nerfd but the spec will still be a must bring to everything because blizzard is forcing it down everyone’s throats because its a “SuPPoRt” the spec is boring and easy to play stop complaining and learn to range, you literally don’t have to do anything but throw up buffs on people and do fake damage.

What if hover was a choice node where you choose range or mobility? I think we should have both, but would you support that compromise?
