Nvidia launch disaster

Same.

Im on a RTX 4090. I dont need to buy a 5090 for a measly 20 fps increase in the games I play and in some of them its more like 8. the RTX 5090 is actually more if a 4090 ti if you are looking at purely native performance. I do not use DLSS or Frame Gen. I didnt buy a 4k OLED screen to play on a 720p Upscaled image. As for for DLSS4? The artifacts of AI Frame Gen really bother my eyes.

Im skipping 50 series. Waiting on 60 series. I will however buy the 9950x3D day 1. It will be a massive upgrade in my non-gaming applications and have better thermals over my 7950x3D

Seriously considering grabbing a 9900x3D on release. I’m thinking it should be a significant upgrade across the board for all gaming & non-gaming applications versus my 7800x3d. It should pair well with my 7800 XT as well.

Also if anyone’s interested, I’m thinking of selling my Xbox Series X and my PS5. They’ve both literally been collecting dust for the past year, as I never play either of them. I never got into them like I thought I would. I’d estimate that I have less than 45 total hours of use between both consoles. Pristine immaculate condition with original boxes, paperwork, etc. Can provide any sort of pics or video requested. I may put them on ebay soon but if anyone’s interested, hit me up.

Id advise No Go on that. Do you NEED the 12 cores outside of gaming? If you dont the 9900x3D is a serious downgrade from the 9800x3d.

9800x3D= 8 cores in games and 8 cores non gaming (Best all around consumer chip)
9900x3D= 6 Cores in games and 12 cores non gaming (Niche CPU)
9950x3D= 8 Cores in games and 16 cores non gaming (Workstation/Gaming)

If gaming was my focus Id NEVER trade a 8 core CPU for a 6. If you do not do workstation task you wont notice a difference between the 9800x3D and 9900x3D outside of gaming. You will however see a difference in gaming from the 9800x3D and 9900x3D. This is why I call the 9900x3D a niche CPU

Yikes! Thanks for the post. I’ll definitely research that more.

9800x3D is what you want buddy :+1:

With BOTH the 9900x3D and 9950x3D you will HAVE to use process lasso and FORCE wow to load the just 8 or 6 V-Cache Cores. I say this because wow Randomly wakes up and starts using NON 3D V-cache Cores. WHen it does it tanks your FPS. This is due to the fact that the 9900x3D and 9950x3D only have the V-Cache on 1 CCD. They are both Dual CCD chips. You will only be using 1 CCD while gaming This is why Dual CCD CPUs like the 9900x3D and 9950x3D are a waste for 90% of PC users.

I have the 7950x3D. I use Process Lasso. I have my CPU set to “Performance Cores” in my Bios. So ALL my PC background task run on CCD1 my 8 NON V-cache cores. While Process Lasso FORCES wow and other Games to ONLY run on CCD0 my 8 V-Cache Cores.

With the 9800x3D you do not need Process Lasso or to worry about any of this. Its 1 CCD and all 8 cores are V-Cache cores. People who need the 9950x3D NEED 16 cores outside of gaming and know why they need it. They are also familiar with Process Lasso.

Jeesh your intricate understanding of how pc components work in various setups and scenarios never ceases to amaze me. Taking your advice!

9800x3D. You will NOT regret it :+1:

That CPU is :fire: Id be on it myself if I didnt use my PC as a workstation outside of Gaming.

This video will explain the 9900x3D and 9950x3D in more simple Terms. Its a video about the 7950x3D but the 9950x3D will be the same as only 1 CCD will have the V-Cache.

it’s a pretty good pairing already, swifty’s RTX 4090 is about 50% more performance than a 7800 XT (along with a more demanding monitor) so he would see more benefit from a 9800X3D or 9900/9950X3D. Unless you really had apps that could take advantage of those CPUs I would stick with what you have for now especially if it’s already giving you full performance on your monitor.

Definitely! No complaints. System is solid AF. 18353 in Cine R23 and 10968 on the GPU in Cine 2024. I just like spending money I don’t need to spend, which explains why I never have any money and also why I never have the best of anything since I can’t manage to stop buying crap long enough to save up for the really good stuff :eyes:

Earlier today when I checked, only Newegg had any stock and they were priced a bit steep at $595. Well, Micro-Center had some stock but they won’t ship, and I don’t live close to any of their stores. I checked again a bit ago though and some stock popped up on Amazon for $479 +tax.

Ordered!

Due to arrive between Feb 27th and Mar 18th.

depends on the exact CPU, 7600X3D is a killer gaming CPU especially for WoW (if people snagged one) when you compare it to the 5800x or even 7700x. If AMD ever releases a 9600X3D for a similar price as the 7600X3D and people want a WoW CPU that would run the snot out of it (minus all the upstream issues) for a “fairly” reasonable price that would be the one to get.

Its less about the core count more about all the extra stuff you have to worry about with the Dual CCD CPUs. Thats more where I was going with that I was saying. Without extensive knowledge of Dual CCD CPUs, Process Lasso and what it does the 7900x3D and 7950x3D are NOT very consumer friendly.

You are 100% right though the 7600x3D is an AMAZING bang for your buck. Its also a single CCD CPU like the 7800x3D so he would not have to worry about all the stuff he would with the 7900x3D he mentioned. I care more about balancing non gaming performance with Gaming performance so I sometimes forget the 7600x3D exist.

The prices of GPUs are out of control and the technology is greatly outpacing consumer needs.
