Who snagged one?
Didn’t get one, wasn’t trying to.
RTX 4080/s & 4090 all sold out at launch as well. Slightly surprised people want the RTX 5080 & 5090 but hey not my money. Clearly not a paper launch but Nvidia likes to play their games to keep demand up.
I’ll end up getting a 5090 until then my 4090 is working just fine.
I was considering getting a 4070 super (I don’t need the bestest). But now I am thinking maybe just wait until the 5070 super…?
Wtf are people doing that they think they need a 5090?
I play WoW classic and make games in unreal engine as a hobby.
Probably end up getting a 4080 super. Seems to be better on balance than a 5080 anyways.
I’m curious as well. I am still using a 3090 card and every game I play runs really smooth. I can’t see any need, at least speaking for myself, for a 5090 card for a very long time.
I’m not sure why, with each new GPU or console release, people continue to be surprised by the fact that they are consistently sold out everywhere.
I’m running an RTX 2060 GPU and the majority of the games I play are still really smooth. I am however planning on building a new gaming PC later this year as I purchased my current rig back in 2018.
When I do purchase my next rig, I plan to get a rig that has an RTX 5090 card in it.
I wouldn’t call it a disaster for Nvidia. They sold out in seconds. They don’t care who buys them, they are making their money.
I’m hoping AMD will do better… but I seriously doubt they will.
You’re just not a positive person. You should be more positive.
Just tired of it after 3 generations of graphics cards going to scalpers. Nvidia, AMD, and their retail partners could have fixed this with a simple queue system. A simple system that allows customers to save a spot for when stock becomes available would single-handedly delete the scalping market.
This occurs with consoles as well. It is not a new phenomenon; it is basic economics: supply and demand. When supply is low and demand is high, prices increase. There is nothing a company can do about this. It is called free will and personal greed. Are the cards being sold at MSRP, with customers buying them and reselling them for more? Or is the partner company selling the items above MSRP and pocketing the profit?
I have a 3070 and I’m trying to find a more efficient gpu. The thing runs hot just playing WoW and running a YouTube video on the 2nd monitor.
Thinking of waiting for the 5060.
might be more of a side grade than an upgrade in terms of performance. Should be more efficient in power needs but typically the RTX 3070 runs in the 65-75c range. That’s not bad in terms of temp.
The fan spins up and gets pretty loud.
Could be that it’s married to an i7 13700k.
I’m sure that’s dumping a lot of heat too.
I’m pleased with the level of performance, but this rig generates a lot of heat and noise. Will definitely be more mindful of this in the future.
I’m sure the 13700k doesn’t help. Maybe try afterburner to control GPU fan speeds. I hate loud fans so I understand how they can take away from the gaming experience.
